Hi Nurses :)

Wanted to start a new forum for those of you applying for the RN New Grad Program for the Spetemper 2013 cohort.

Heres the Link: http://www.chla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.3929777/k.E91E/Nursing_Career_Opportunities.htm#.UT6aKo7fRdQ

Applications opened today so best of luck to all who apply!

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a call yet? I got a voicemail this morning from someone at CHLA who just said she was calling about my application...no other details left on the vm. So I have no idea if I got an interview or not because she hasn't been at her desk when I've tried to call back. Waiting now to hear back from her since I left her a vm.

I was also wondering if I should expect her to ask me any screening or interview type questions when she calls back...just want to be prepared.

Good luck everyone!

I just got a phone call from her earlier today too. She is calling to schedule you to come in for a prescreening with unit managers within the next week-ish.

this makes me nervous, hope I get a call!

What units did you apply to?

NICU and PICU. I will be meeting with the NICU mangers tho.

Ahh I'm so jealous! I've been externing in a level 3 NICU for 10 months now, will complete my BSN in three weeks & have another BS degree & no call.. I'm so anxious :( good luck to you girls interviewing soon! Let us know how it goes.

Just stay hopeful! I also have two BS degrees and precepted in a level 3 NICU.

Do they do prescreening in person? And after that how many interviews if they continue to like you? Haven't heard back from her yet. I applied to NICU and forgot my 2nd choice. Bad, I know, but I was going back and forth between hem/onc and a more general medical floor and can't remember which I ended up going with. I think it was hem/onc.

Keep those phones handy....good luck to all

Also, do you have any idea what "prescreening" involves? I've interviewed with 3 hospitals now since graduation and they all were straightforward one interview (panel) only (1 was via phone because it was out of state).

Thank you :) I'm trying its just so discouraging! I have two jobs lined up here where I'm living, but my boyfriend lives in LA now so i would really like to be there with him (obviously haha). It's so stressful! Gah!

Got in touch with the woman who called and I'm set up for a pre-screening with the NICCU managers May 1. She said it is only 10 minutes and they ask you why you want to work in that unit. I'm thrilled to get to move on in the process, but don't really understand why they make you come there for a 10 minute thing that they could do over the phone. I'm in San Diego, so it's at least 2 hours each way for me to get there. Oh well, I'll try to focus on the positive (:

Oh and she said the last group that is being pre-screened is on May 7 and that the managers will call about a week after that to let people know whether they get a 1:1 interview.

Good luck everyone!

Congrats and good luck! I wonder if they are doing it by unit...anyone get a call for a prescreen with a unit besides NICU?

Hi everyone! I just got a phone call about 30 minutes ago for 1st round interviews. She said it would be a 10 minute, group interview so I'm not sure how that's gonna work haha! Anybody have ideas on what they might be asking? My first choice was BMT and second hem/onc. She said I would be interviewing with all of the managers from that 4th floor.
