Hi all,

Just wanted to start up another forum for CHLA's Versant New Grad RN Program for the March 2013 cohort. Here's a link to CHLA's page: http://www.chla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.3579535/k.2A87/RN_Residency__Pediatrics_Nurse__RN_Versant.htm

The online app should only be open for a few more days apply now and GOOD LUCK!

I was told 50 out of 500 applicants. 1 in 10 odds hmmm.....

I like those odds much better than the ones I thought we had. I'm really hoping that the person (sorry, I forgot who it was specifically) who said that maybe they were calling by department for organization's sake is right and that Heme/Onc and/or BMT haven't made their calls yet.

Babyrn I hope your right!! Those were my two choices also (1 onc 2 BMT) we still have a few says but ah I wanna know haha!

So excited! Got a call back to do the "prescreen" interview for NICU dept. Does anyone know how many people will be going through this "prescreen" ? Really praying I get this, has been my dream job since I started nursing!!

the nurse recruiter who called me works for the specific unit (6 East for me). i'm thinking that was probably the case for those who got a call as well?

I was in the car with my 2 yr old when they called me and to be absolutely honest, I was having a hard time hearing everything. I am almost positive I remember her saying I should come in and be ready to tell them why I want to work at CHLA. I was not told anything about a specific unit in regards to my interview but then again I picked Float Pool which consists of 5W, 6E and 6W. I wish I had an audio playback of the call to listen to because I am freaking myself out thinking that I missed some sort of vital information I might find useful in preparing...

Congratulations to all of you who received a call!!! I applied to CTICU and NiCU .. I'm still waiting for a call, but if it doesn't come today I loose hope!

I'm so nervous waiting! I really hope that it's by department since so far i guess no one has heard from the ED. I hope I make it past HR and get to interview this time. This is my third time applying...so maybe third time 's a charm?

Yeah Im hoping the same thing! Cause I dont think anyones heard from onc or BMT yet either right? This is my second time. But hopefully third time is a charm for you! :) And second times a charm haha

I haven't heard from heme-onc or BMT yet either. Hopefully they are just slower!! And don't lose hope yet JanetteRD... it isn't over until October 31. :)

Congrats to those of you that made it to the prescreening interview! I also received a call for the PICU. The woman that called to schedule the appointment informed me that it would be a panel meeting with the nurse managers of the PICU. I have a hard time believing that as it is normally the nurse recruiters for the first round right? How are you guys prepping for the interview and what are you wearing? Good Luck to everyone!!

I am also curious what this 10 minute screening interview will be like. I applied for CV Acute, so as of now I am reading the CV chapter in my peds book and some of the basic chapters, just to have more content knowledge under my belt…Although this will probably be more relevent for the 2nd interview if I get that far...Also been thinking about questions I may have to answer. Anyone have any tips on potential questions we may be asked for the screening interview?

I dont think they really ask content based questions like that? Especially Im guessing if you have your license already. I dont know if CHLA is different but for CHOC they had a packet of questions and for each question they asked (which were more like situational questions) there was a chart where they basically filled out what your situation was how you handled it and what the outcome was. I think thats how most interviews are!

As far as the screening interview didnt someone say the person who called them said be prepared to answer why CHLA???
