China - Nursing/Teaching

Hi there.

I have always had a great interest in China.

Now that they seem to be opening up their markets in many ways, I was wondering if this was applicable to nursing.

Specifically are they interested in having international (English speaking) nurses work in their system? Are there Nursing Schools, Colleges or Universities? How could I contact them if there were.

It seems very hard to find information on the web about the country.

If there is anyone out there with knowlege on Nursing and Nursing Schools in China I would love any information available, ie personal knowledge, web link, literature thats about. That sort of stuff.

Just for curious, so, they also have an nationalwise board for nursing exams just like NCLEX? Do you know any more information related to their licensure application procedure? Thanks.

The have an exam and if you want to see information concerning it, it is only in Chinese. You would need software to view it.

Yes.

There are some interest, but still rather small, because most can not afford.

It is still a new market.

There are public entities (universities) and private entities (non-university concerns). BSN is usually prefered.

Hi there,

One year ago I moved to Shanghai. I tried hard to find a job as a nurse. It didn't work out. BUT the reason with me was that I didn't had any experience after my graduation. There are a few western institutes. For example Worldlink. I had an interview but they thought I was too young. An international hospital just opened in SH. They are looking for nurses. The respons i received was that i did need the exam. and if i had they only want to hire nurses with 5 years of experience.

SO: you do need an exam to be a 'nurse', it's in Chinese. There is an English version but the quality of the translation is very bad. And the quality of the translation of your answers is also pretty bad. (at least, this is what i heard) so its hard to pass the exam.

BUT: you don't need an exam if they don't hire you as a nurse. The task you will have is coordinating a health clinic. Have contacts with patients by mail, give them advice. Consult with docters about a patient's situation. Sound like nursing to me, but when you don't do any practical interventions you dont need the exam.

I would definitely try to find a job in China!! Its great to live here. I have the internetaddress of the organisations in Shanghai (second one also in Beijing):
