Hey guys! I am starting this for the March 2024 Cohort at CHLA. As people hear back about interviews, hopefully we can update each other.

I'm really hoping both of get a call back because this is both our second time ? if you don't get this one where else are you planning to apply?

Honestly, I've been at it since September and the constant rejection has been rough on my mental health so I'm going to take a little bit of a break and try again in January. I know I want to be in Pediatrics, but I might have to venture out to adults to get the experience, then transfer over. There are some programs I'm looking at:

PIH Good Samaritan and USC Versant have new graduate programs. I also believe Providence is opening up next month? Not too sure. Unfortunately, both UCLA and CHLA have their next upcoming cohorts later next year, and I cannot wait that long. If worse comes to worse, I'll just work at Southern California Hospital or Centinela until I get experience.

I never knew that it would be so incredibly demoralizing to get constant rejections. It makes it really hard to stay optimistic. I honestly feel like I was lied to in nursing school. The "shortage" of nurses isn't applicable to new graduates.

I hope so too LOL this is my second time ?I've been checking out miller women and children's but they haven't been posting many openings.

Dude I just don't know what to do. I guess I should have seen it coming - Peds is such a specialized population, but still...

I totally get what you mean. I've applied to several other places besides reapplying to ucla and chla. And some don't even get back to me LOL like at least just send a rejection email. It's frustrating bc yeah, there is def a shortage in general, but then there's only so many spots in new grad programs ?.

Yeah but then it's hard bc like... I went into nursing bc I wanted to do peds. Like that's my whole why for nursing. ?and yeah I could always apply to adult nursing and then get experience and try to go into peds that way. But sigh

Literally same. I mean, I guess it'll be good experience but my god, I don't want to work with adults. At this point, I just need an environment that I can be comfortable enough to grow and not risk my license LOL

OMG yes exactly that. Like I'm sure there are places who hire no problem but I'm like. I want support as a new grad and I don't want to be in situations where I'm scared for my license ?.  I'm out of state and IDK sometimes I wish I started working in my state bc I'd be at 6 months RN ?

@Thatwasian & others! I completely feel you. and I understand SO MUCH of wanting to be supported. we're both reapplicants for chla and ucla and I HOPEE we get into either or, but I know the struggle, and you're not alone. I just hope you know the feeling of wanting support as a new grad is so so so underrated. I accepted a new grad position at a local hospital that's a big organizational name in the healthcare world (starts w a K) and I absolutely hated life. no support, no nothing, and I was so miserable that I left after one month. despite the paycheck being great, it wasn't good enough. we're gonna make great nurses, and while I know being a third time applicant is unrealistic because we do need to start working and making a name for ourselves, don't give up. even if you have to accept a job and reapply to where you truly want to work, that's okay. this field is so complicated!! we got this. the journey doesn't end here! I believe in us ? all of us.

I am glad to have started this forum where everyone has been so uplifting and helpful! Has anyone heard back from or heard of 6 West of CV acute sending out responses?

Does anybody know if they will reach out and let us know if we don't move on to second interviews? Haha wondering how long I should hang on to hope if by a certain day I don't hear from them? Also, does anybody know if units are still making decisions so it's possible to hear back this weekend?

I heard back for the BMT unit on Wednesday, so I think they might just be going by unit?

Ohh gotcha! Did you hear back to schedule another interview or they reached out even if  it's just to say no. Like I'm wondering if NICCU and PICU already reached out and let people schedule second interviews, but they don't let people know if they arnt chosen?
