Just wanted to start a thread as there appears to be some from the past. Has anyone else applied for the August 2014 cohort? I would love to hear and keep in contact with other current applicants as well as those from the past.
Below is the program timeline for August 2014:
o March 28 - April 7: Positions posted
o May 12 - May 16: Select/notify applicants to interview
o June 9 - June 20: Interviews
o August 18: Start of program
For purposes of discussion:
o Are you from Colorado or planning on moving?
o Previous experience working in pediatrics?
o What units are you most interested in?
Hope to hear from others soon!
Congrats to those getting offers! I started with the March Cohort and will be done with preceptorship orientation in the next couple of weeks. You'll be getting support from the new grad program (Donnya is the manager), your unit, and the hospital. It's a great way to start your nursing career. You never feel like you're on your own without any backup.
To all those moving here, Denver is a great city! I lived in Santa Cruz, CA and moved back to finish school so I understand the worries when it comes to making a big move. If any of you have any questions or I can help in any way, Please let me know!!
Did you get a call????? Thanks so much for the help - yeah any tips on where a 23 year old should live in the area would be fantastic thank you!

I didn't get into the program at the Denver location but DID get into the NICU in Colorado Springs!! Beyond excited!!! We will do monthly training together.
As far as neighborhoods- park hill, capital hill, denver highlands, since you are coming from SF I would say avoid the suburbs.
Let me know if you need anything else? I wonder if we should start a Facebook page for the cohorts?

CONGRATS! I can't wait to meet you at training! Thanks for the tips I will start looking into a place soon - and yeah I think a Facebook page sounds great not sure how many we have right now.
@JCBSN76 CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for you! I am still waiting to hear back either which way, has been such a long week and really hoping tomorrow I hear something.
@invictus513, I also would recommend Aurora area, just not near the hospital at least off of Colfax. Especially if you don't want that long of a commute to the hospital. I recommend south of Alameda area and east of Peoria. Not as accessible as like the downtown Denver areas but don't have to deal so much so with the traffic.
Hi invictus513. I am also going to be moving into the area as well from NJ. I wasn't sure if you were looking for someone to live with or not. I am possibling thinking of living on the Western side of Denver because I like hiking and sking so I am not that far from either as well as the hospital.
invictus513 I got your friend request but I am still not sure how to contact you directly. Anyway I was talking to a girl who is moving from Boulder to Golden. She is looking at a 7 bedroom apartment tomorrow. I am thinking of possibly moving in with her. I didn't know if you were at all interested. I think Golden is about 40 min w/o traffic so I don't know if that is to far away for you. If you think contacting me by email is easier my email is [email protected]

I went to University of Pennsylvania - Philly is a great place to be a nurse. I had my peds and preceptorship at CHOP and they are definitely among the best in the country but I will say it's not easy to get a job there! I interviewed in May before I moved home and never heard back. That being said there are a ton of hospitals around the area, I think Philly has the most hospitals in a major city. If you do look into applying to CHOP I can explain how that worked for me but I think they post jobs throughout the year!
@chasingdream5 I interviewed last Monday! Fingers crossed for you too.
Congrats @mg83091 I know it's a big decision to make... I have a ton of friends from NJ!
