Hi everyone.
I am planning on applying to Chico states' Nursing program for spring start. I just got my acceptance letter for the school itself, but have no yet applied to the program yet.
I just want to know about the school a little more. I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the city itself and the school, the good and the bad.
If you can just tell me your opinions about the academics, the staff, and faculty I would love to hear.
I would also appreciate what you think of the people and the city itself.
I have a tour scheduled for in a few weeks, but I really would like to hear what other people think too.
Thank you! :)
Jennybewbs - LB has no optional point criteria, it is all grades and TEAS based. I guess it just depends on what you have working in your favor. Like for Chico, a lot of people are able to get all the points for grades, so it makes the optional criteria have a heavier weight (not good for me). But, LB also takes your math score on the TEAS into consideration which benefited me.
k2115- They are really nice, I couldn't believe how quick she was about getting back to me. The previous years, people found out around Dec. 9th. Hoping for before that!
I took a million science classes--the minimum ones needed to cover the pre-reqs for nursing I got good grades in, but some physics upper division chemistry classes I took bring my whole science GPA down. The last semester before I graduated I was going through a really tough personal crisis and I actually requested that one of my profs give me an F in Chem 340 so I could re-take it with forgiveness because I really loved the subject and could have done much better, but I didn't need the class to graduate so I never re-took it. They also said at the advising session that post-bacc students can use either their last 60 credits or their entire cumulative GPA, and since my last semester sucked so bad, my entire cumulative GPA is higher. I did send an email letting them know I'd prefer to use my real cumulative GPA but I haven't heard back.
Ceci81 - I wouldn't worry too much. When I talked to her, she said they just started reviewing everything, so she may just be overlooking your file first. Or my guess is this is the first semester using the system and didn't realize they were going to have a GPA calculation discrepancy and deciding how it should be handled. I bet she will get back to you soon.

@k2115 Awww, is that what they said? So we aren't going to find out about our admission sooner? ):
