Chico State University Reviews

Published

Hi everyone.

I am planning on applying to Chico states' Nursing program for spring start. I just got my acceptance letter for the school itself, but have no yet applied to the program yet.

I just want to know about the school a little more. I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the city itself and the school, the good and the bad.

If you can just tell me your opinions about the academics, the staff, and faculty I would love to hear.

I would also appreciate what you think of the people and the city itself.

I have a tour scheduled for in a few weeks, but I really would like to hear what other people think too.

Thank you! :)

@Jennybewbs I got into csulb for spring, but reviewing my financial aid options and cost of living Chico.is my best option. I also applied to sac and hear back from them on nov. 30. Is anyonr else getting so tifed of checking their email all day long, hoping to hear!?

Haha, yes, refreshing the email frequently. It gives me some anxiety.

Long Beach is ghetto anyway;)...

Does anyone know if chico is using your transcripts GPA calculation or NursingCAS's GPA calculation?! It has me worried because I can lose two points if they are using the NursingCAS GPA :(

NursingCAS. It processes everything for them.

Are you losing two points from your overall gpa or from science? They still only look at your four science prereqs to average the gpa for that, not NursingCAS science gpa.

I will lose the two points for having an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher. I re-took two classes in college where my grades were forgiven and removed from my GPA, but the NursingCAS system does not honor that. On the NursingCAS website it has a notice that mentioned the schools may or may not use their GPA calculations and I was hoping they weren't. It dropped me from a 3.5 to a 3.24 overall. My sciences are still a 3.8.

They should still give you a point for 3.24, right?

No, it's 3.25+ for one point. Oi! I will call them tomorrow.

They might let you use your transcript, who knows. :)

Thanks, I hope so. I am going to the information session tomorrow to calm my nerves. :)

@k2115 - You were right! I emailed her and she is making a note on my application. SO RELIEVED!

I'm actually scared that the email might end up going to my spam folder.. Haha. And isn't long beach hard to get into? My sister told me it was.

Yay, that's great! They seem so nice and accommodating over at the nursing department.

I'm guessing we will hear back by early December. A little before the deadline. At least that's only a tad over a month away!
