hello everyone! i am very excited to announce that i was accepted into wright college's practical nursing program here in chicago! i start class on january 20th! i am also quite nervous as what to expect, yet i'm just overjoyed! i know it's going to be very time consuming and difficult, but i am ready for the work .
are there any other wright college lpn 2011-2012 students out there:confused: helloooo???? or are there any other chicago lpn students out there? -i'm sure there are, i'm just being silly
, but the reason i ask -maybe we can make a lpn study group for our area! we're all here on this awesome :rckn: site for each other's support, so let's do this! :anpom:
gosia06,i'm not sure if they'll be using the same book, but we're using fundamental nursing care 2nd edition. they'll give u all the info orientation day.
Can You PLEASE check if this is the right one??
Hello Gosia06, that is the book we were using, but I'm not sure if they are going to keep it, as it was said that they weren't happy with the typos & publisher, and will be switching to another book. You'll also be using another book for Perspectives class and your Fund instructor will even use info out of the thick med-surg book. You're better off just waiting for the booklist, because this program doesn't know its @$$ from a hole in the ground. My honest opinion.

Oh thx.. i was just trying to find out what books i will need and in advance try to buy them.. maybe for cheaper online? but if you do advice to wait than i will. What professors would you recommend and/or advice to avoid? Do you mind to say something overall about the program? Also i am working 3days a week 25 hours? do you think that will be too much with LPN? what is your opinion? how do you feel about load of study?
Hi Gosia, I had written so much crap about this program, just look up "Wright College LPN" in the search, you'll find it. I heard and read here that it was disorganized, which every program is to a certain extent, but this one takes the cake! If you work, be prepared to call off or get fired, because this program has no respect for the working student or a pregnant student, and they will tell you not to work if you don't have to and to not get pregnant.
You can't really avoid instructors, as you don't get to choose them. Are you in the Day or Weekend session? For the first 16 weeks, which is Fund 1 & 2, and Perspectives courses. The first 8 wks are Fund 1 which you must pass to go to Fund 2, which is the next 8 wks. But during these courses, you'll also have a straight 16 wk course called Perspectives, which is nursing issues, ethics & law. You will also have skills lab & clinicals throughout the program. You MUST pass ALL to move on. For example, you could be getting straight A's in Fund 2 and in everything else, except a 'F in Skills Lab -you fail. Then you must take Fund 2 over again during the next admission (a year or so later). There are also ATI exams at the end of each semester (which you will NOT get your books for -long story), and you can be getting straight A's across the board, but if you fail that ATI exam on the 2nd try, you fail the program. It's not so cut & dry. And the director (who is supposed to be leaving, no replacement yet) is a real B*****. Hopefully you're lucky and won't have to deal with her.
Be optimistic, but be realistic. I left the program because I was accepted into a RN program, but if this PN program was stable, I would have stayed and graduated in December this year. But I guess God has other plans for me. best of everything to you.
I applied to wright college with a gpa of 3.5,teas score of 54 and I have my cna, hoping to start in january, but am still waiting for my acceptance letter.I got accepted into NWIHT(northwestern),but with all these complaints about wright,i am so nervous and confused. How many days a week are lectures and clinicals at wright college and any other information will be appreciated.
