are there any other wright college lpn 2011-2012 students out there:confused: helloooo???? or are there any other chicago lpn students out there? -i'm sure there are, i'm just being silly , but the reason i ask -maybe we can make a lpn study group for our area! we're all here on this awesome :rckn: site for each other's support, so let's do this! :anpom:

I'm applying to Wright to start in June or the fall! Do you think it was hard to get in? I'm also applying to other programs though too! Do you plan on staying and doing the LPN-RN bridge thing there?
Hello Smokey2112, did you attend an information session? You need to take the entrance exam, and all prerequisites must be completed. I hear from past and present students that the instructors can be very disorganized as far as last minute test scheduling, or last minute change of plans, especially with clinicals. But I also hear that it is a very good program that does prepare you for the NCLEX-PN, as long as you study hard, because you'll mostly be "teaching yourself", or reinforcing the lectures. I do plan on continuing into their RN completion program (only for LPNs). I have applied at another city college as my back up in case this program doesn't workout. What colleges have you applied to?
No I haven't attended an info session yet.. I'll prolly go this or next Thursday.. I did alot of research about the program so I did hear the exact same things you have..lol I know you have to take the TEAS..and the prereqs have to be completed..I'll finish my prereqs in May. I haven't applied to any colleges yet..but I'm applying to Morton, Chicago State, Wright, and a school in IN. I went to the Truman info session..that's where I really wanted to go..but I've never taken a chemistry class so I don't be done with that until May. Is that where you applied? How was the TEAS?

Thank you for the link to this thread Jessi!
I am soooo excited for this Thursday, yet sooo nervous too. This is a dream come true for me. Something I should have done 20 years ago! I am attending College of Dupage's LPN program. I decided to go back to school after getting laid off from my job a year ago. I decided to start with the LPN because I need to get back to earning some money ASAP! Sounds like the two programs are similar. 12 months, pre-req's, entry testing. What are the TEAS you are talking about? Is that the pre-entry exam? We had to take the PAX-PN entrance exam from the NLN for COD's program. Lots of math, science and english questions.
I intend on applying for COD's LPN to RN transition program right after I finish the LPN. Right now that program is under review due the the high volume of requests they have had for it!
COD's LPN is 40 students, their RN is 120! I know for the LPN it was a really competitive group wanting to get in. You HAD to have all your pre-req's done to even have a chance at getting picked! It is not required but there were hundreds applying for these 40 spots!
I wish both of you the very best of luck! I am so very happy my friend reccommended this site to me! :)

hi jessiboopcna!! ! congrats on getting accepted to the program!!!
i just finished wright lpn last december. i know exactly how you feel. are you day class or weekend class? having a solid study group is a good plan, just make sure you are really going to focus on studying and not gossiping (lol). you can assign each person in the group to make outline on each chapter being discussed so you don't have to do everything by yourself and it is a time saver. yeah, you'll need someone or some friends while in the program because the program is tough. lab skills tests, nclex questions due on lecture test day, lecture tests, clinical rotation and clinical paperworks, ati tests are going to be overwhelming, but hang in there. you can do it. stay positive and in a year you can finish lpn program.
hello blogera! thank you for responding!
i am in the weekend class with hartman for fundamentals and soberano for perspectives (that i know of so far lol). we just completed orientation on thursday, and our first class will be on the 20th. so far i am reading chapters 18-19 and taking "reading" notes, this way i can gain some knowledge and compare my "reading" notes with my "lecture" notes (after each lecture). please send me a private message with your email, i would love to hear more from you! so you graduated "last december" as in 2010 or 2009?
i actually got a lil study group going, so far each of us are just reading the chapters on our own. although appointing a group member to read a section sounds time-saving, i don't think i could solely depend on their information. no offense to them, it's just we each may have a different understanding of the reading. but we will be comparing our notes and gaining each other's perspective that way. but please, send me a private message with your contact info/email!
thank you so very much!
you are welcome ! ! ! i am not allnurses.com savvy so i dont know how to send private message here. but i can reply to your posts. graduated 2010. hartman/soberano. that's good, you are in good hands. listen to them. they test you on exactly what they tell you and give you. goodluck! i am revisiting the fund book, chapter 37 taking licensure exam

Hey! I'm at Wrights nursing program too! I'm in the weekday class. How's everything going with the weekend classes? Did you start clinicals? Man, o man, this program is uuber stressful, ha, ha but we're going to get through it.
Hello cano06 -YOU ARE NOT LYING! This program is ridiculously disorganized! We didn't start clinical for Fund 2 yet and I hear that there are two groups without clinical instructors. From what I know, a LOT of students have called the district office to put their foot down, because the dept. chair acts like, just because we "chose to be here" -we chose to get treated like burden stepchildren or something:lol2: -she has a really nasty attitude, almost to the point of feeling racially discriminated against -even though more than half the students are "minorities". Either way, something is wrong with that woman. None of the instructors are communicating to the staff, or even with each other, and that leaves the students running around with our heads cut off, and WE -THE STUDENTS -are burdened with the consequences of their actions. Send me a private message with your email address, or the email address you use for your facebook account so I can look you up and add you to the group I had created for this nursing program's students. -Now I KNOOOOW you GOTZ a fb?
