I am starting Chem II this semester. Anyone want to start a club???
I noticed a lot of people in this thread are taking Intro to Chem and Gen Chem.
I am trying to get into the accelorated program and they said the Chem pre req is "College Chemistry"
Anybody else taking this or hear of this? They said its the equivalent to Organic Bio Chem in some schools.

I would ask them for an example of a course (either at the college you're trying to get into, or a local area alternative), that way you can go to whatever school you're preparing in and ask them what their equivalent is.
My school has two levels of General Chemistry (Gen Chem); it has 100 level and the 200 level. The 100 level is for folks in other disciplines who need to fulfill a science requirement and the 200 level is for science majors and I've heard it called College Chemistry. The pre-reqs for them are different as well, the 100 level only requires Math 52 while the 200 level requires Math 111.
Additionally, at my school, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry are each a different series. The pre-req for Organic Chemistry is the full year of 200 level Chemistry and the pre-req for Biochem is Organic Chem.
Hope this helps!
Peace,
Cathie

Are you by any chance going to NYU College of Nursing Accelerated program? I know that's what they say on their website. I wasn't sure what they meant either. I am just going to take the course there (they call it "Modern Chemistry" and it is 5 credits, and postpone starting the Accelerated Program til January. This postponement will also give me a chance to work and save some much needed $$$
Add me to the Chem club. My class starts June 5th and goes from 5-10pm. Weee! This is the class I am most nervous about. I have never taken Chem before! I am also taking General Bio this summer (online). I took it at another school and it didn't transfer. I know I'll do fine in that one. I look foward to chatting with ya'll throughout the summer.
I am in chem right now and so far it is eveything I heard it was going to be, hard and boring. The whole class runs like a math course for the first few chapters. Right now we are learning the naming of compunds, and how to draw dot structures. I never knew that little periodic table of elements had so much to it. I made a B on my first test, and we were told to enjoy the high grades because the worst is yet to come.
OK I had my first day of Chem today. It was sooo long. But the prof. seems really nice. We had a lot of homework. I just finished 2 of the 4 assignments that are due on Thursday. The class moves really fast, but I expected that. Overall I think it is just going to take a lot of self discipline to buckle down and make sure I keep up with my readings and assignments (and there are a lot). So far not too bad. Good luck to everyone else.
is anyone taking chem and ap together in the same semester? I'm considering this.. but I don't know if i'll shoot myself in the foot if i attempt this..advisable? or not so much?
I'll go with not so much. A&P is a fundamental for nursing. I would devote as much time as I could to this subject. Chemistry is important, and useful, however for me it required a lot of studying which was a chore for me since I wasn't really interested. If I were you I would take them separately.

I am also taking Chemistry this summer. I work full-time and class is Monday through Thursday from 5:45 to 10:30 PM. I'm worried I may not have much time to study and I hear summer courses are harder because they are only 7 weeks.
