Chemeketa Kaplan 2020

Hello all, once again I have applied to Chemeketa's nursing program. This is my second attempt at getting into nursing school and I was just curious what everyone is studying for the Kaplan again. Last year I got 42/50 and made it on the alternate list but this year I am trying to study starting now rather than waiting until last minute. Thanks for any advice anyone can provide ?

The science is nearly all physiology. When I took it 4 years ago, there were 3 on CV system, 2 F/E, 1 GI, 1 hematological, 1 homeostasis, 2 immune system, 4 neurology, 1 renal, 4 respiratory, and 1 sensory. I am pretty sure that hasn't changed too much.

Do you remember your total points from last year? I just got an email, I take my test on May 12th so I've been trying to study for the Kaplan, but it's hard because so many people I've talked to tell me that the book isn't helpful and to use the videos on Kahn academy. I know there are Youtube videos people make too, but I don't know how reliable those are. I think I'm just nervous because I don't know what to expect.. do you remember anything from the test that was particularly hard? Anything helps, good luck!

I was missing 8 points from the total. I can't remember the total...was it out of 330 points? I had full points going into the Kaplan but got 42 out of the 50 points on the Kaplan. I really only studied for about 2 weeks before my Kaplan last year but this year I have been studying more and I have a vague memory of some of the A&P questions that stumped me so I hope this year will be better. My test is scheduled for May 19th. I bought the Kaplan Qbank which has like 500 questions from different categories so you can test yourself and some of the questions look familiar from the test, specifically the A&P portion. I also like crashcourse on Youtube for an overview of each system for A&P. I do love Kahn academy for the math because the math was basically percents, decimals, fractions and ratios. I still have my scratch paper that I did the math on last year. Good luck, and write back after your test if you could and let me know how it went. Thank you ?

The total is out of 335 points. Did you know right after the Kaplan how many points you had or just your percentage? I'm not sure how the percentage transfers to the points and how to calculate that. Thank you for this information. Where can I find the Kaplan Qbank? I looked it up and there were different options so I was kind of confused. Thank you again! I will let you know how the test goes after I take it.

Right after the Kaplan, the proctor hands you a piece of paper with your scores and then I think another piece of paper with the points and percentages on it. I can't remember exactly how it went down but something along those lines. I believe mine was 82% which is 42 points out of 50. I'm not sure how they calculate the percentage/points either. You're welcome. I just googled Kaplan nursing entrance exam and it brought me to the Kaplan website. I am studying the TEAS Qbank but it is helpful. Good luck:)

I forgot to mention that the proctor will not tell you your final points including grades, you will only know the points for the kap test afterwards but I already knew my total points for grades going into the Kaplan so I knew my total points (grades+Kaplan) before they sent out the email informing people whether they were accepted, denied or alternate.

I’m applying to Chemeketa this year too. I take my Kaplan exam on May 14th! I’ve been studying using the Kaplan study book from the Chemeketa bookstore and it’s been fairly helpful; I’ve heard it’s better than previous versions. There is also a website called readtheory.com that’s good for reading comprehension practice.

This is a break down of points based on the entrance exam score. 4 years old but I can't imagine it has changed.

how did it go? Harder/easier then expected?

It was about like I expected honestly. Math was SO easy, I could do more than half the problems by just plugging them into the calculator. Just know fractions and decimals.
I only missed 1 or 2 in each section except science I missed 4 I think. There were a few from each area similar to what’s posted above but they were really oddly worded in my opinion!

How did it go? I take mine tomorrow morning!

It didn’t go good.. I got a 81%. I had full points going into the test so my total points are 325/335. I know that last year alternate #1 started at 331/335 points so I don’t have any hope in getting in but I’m glad I know what to expect for next year. How did your test go?

UPDATE,

I just took my exam today too! I got an 88% which correlates to 49 points so I am super thrilled with that but also still nervous because we were told that because of COVID-19 they weren't sure how many students would get accepted this year. I missed 4 in Reading, 1 in math, 3 in writing, and 3 in science. The questions were very similar, if not the same, to last years. I found a girl on quizlet that posted really good flashcards for the science portion, I think I just searched Kaplan nursing entrance exam or something along those lines. She posted about 20 flashcards, again, very similar to this years test. I think we were also told that the last exam is the 29th of May or something like that so total scores would come out around then. Final decisions would be made mid to late June. Good luck everyone:)
