Is anyone else trying to get into the Chemeketa LPN to RN program?
If so, are you on the list already? How long have you been waiting?
I took the Kaplan transition exam this morning. Hoping to get on the list. Curious what happens from here.

The Kaplan wasn’t too bad. You must use the LPN NCLEX BOOK to study it. Once you get all your prerequisites done with Chemeketa they will let you sign up to take the Kaplan and they will tell you to use that book.
Thank you that is helpful! Have you taken the two nursing courses they have you take prior to being put on the waitlist?
PHM 230 and NURS 272 - yes
They won’t let you take the Kaplan until both of those are complete
Where are you in the process?
Oh okay. I have just started looking into the process. I have my pre reqs but am looking to take those classes hopefully next term if they're offered. Have you looked into or applied to any other programs?
No. There isn’t many options here in the Portland metro area. Only MHCC and CCC. I don’t want to have to drive farther than one hour to go to classes and clinicals.
That's how I feel as well. I am down in Eugene so the same issue. Not many options on the east coast at all. Are you applying to MHCC and CCC as well? Have you looked at any online programs?
Was PHM 230 and NURS 272 pretty difficult?
CCC had a few less classes required so I went with them. The only online LPN to RN program is with LCC in Washington. But you would have to go out there on the last eight weeks to do clinicals. They also have a few more classes that would be required than CCC. I thought about taking the few extra classes that require just so I can get on all 3 of their waitlist- but I’m busy also finishing my last year of a bachelors program in healthcare services coordination. So I figure I’ll just work on that until I hear from CCC. I’m waiting to hear back from CCC on where I scored on placement on the waitlist- this will give me a good understanding if it’s realistic that I’ll get in or if I should look at other options. I scored an 81% on the Kaplan transition exam. I’m not sure with CCC if that score is pretty competitive or not?
Oh okay that makes sense for sure. I looked into Lower Columbia as well. I did not realize that about clinicals for the online program. That is good to know. I have looked into a few online programs out of state but it is so hard to know what is realistic. CCC sounds like a great option for you then since you aren't necessarily in a hurry while finishing up your bachelors. I wish there was more options locally.
I think 81% is pretty good! I think they said you just had to score over a 70%?
The gal I spoke to said that some years everyone on the waitlist get in, and some years nobody gets in so I guess it just depends. At least your on the waitlist indefinitely so someday its bound to happen to get in.
Did you get A's in the two nursing courses? That helps your chances of getting in doesn't it?
I got an A in PHM 230 and a B in NURS 272. We shall see where I land ?
I spoke to faculty for this program and she said that the waitlist can be over 100 and can take one to two years to get in around this time . I’m just hoping that that’s an exaggeration and it won’t take that long.... that’s along time
The reason why it takes so long to get in is because as an LPN you can only enter in at the last year of their RN program which means they only have one start date for the bridge program and that is September of each year. So if you don’t get in for the September then you automatically have to go wait to get in for the next year September start
also- for CCC - you have to score a min of 77% on Kaplan
