Chemeketa Community College Nursing Program Fall 2016

Published

I am applying to Chemeketa's nursing program for Fall 2016. I am curious if anyone has any information about the test that they will be doing now instead of the essay? I'm mostly wondering how it will be graded? I wish we weren't the first year to have to do the test.. I'm worried about how it will be.

I think there's only one student with alternate points this year too so you don't have to worry much about that. The lowest that got in last year was 358 (which is the same score about half of us had).

They are retaking it because they are nervous or because someone told them they should? I am just wondering cause I got an 88 percent so wondering if I should retake it for one point.

Do they just keep whichever score is highest?

Yes, you get to keep your higher score. And I think with an 88 you have nothing to worry about. That's the 2nd highest score I've heard of someone getting. I think those girls are retaking it because they are nervous that their score won't be good enough to get them accepted. I think we're all basing it off the fact that, in previous years, individuals could only miss 2 points in order to get accepted. This test is completely different and no one knows what to expect. I've been reading other forums and people with scores as low as 70 have gotten accepted into their program. I still feel like high 70's and up is great.

That makes me feel better! I would just hate not getting in by one point!

No I think you'll be fine!

I was under the impression that you could only miss 2 points to have a chance at getting in because of last year, but reading this makes me feel way better. So if I got an 87% and have a B in one prereq (-4pts total) are my chances at least decent?

87, wow yes! I'm confident you'll get in!! This test is completely different than the essay and I think we're gonna see a wider point gap in the individuals who get accepted.

I got the same score (-4 points total) but with an 85 on Kaplan and all A's in pre-reqs. Its so scary not knowing if it's enough or not.

Did anyone else apply to other schools?

Smill, I saw you got 81% on your test. I took mine today and got an 82%. I was happy with my score and will not be retaking it. It's hard to know in the end what will be needed, but I feel like a score in the 80's is competitive, at least. Plus, the instructions said you only get two attempts period, regardless of how many times you apply. I would want to be sure my second attempt would give me a considerably higher score.

Oh! I applied to OHSU (accelerated and traditional programs) and Linfield. How about yourself?
