Hey! I thought I would start a thread for those who applied for Chemeketa's program this year in hopes to begin Fall 2015. I just did my essay yesterday afternoon :) I know it's rare to get in your first try, and I would need full points on my essay to even have a chance, but it would still be neat to keep in touch with some others who have also applied! Good luck everyone! I would love to hear from you!
Not everyone got perfect scores. The odds of that are slim. I asked - and on average 1/3 of those accepted get 50/50 - depending on the pool of applicants. I honestly think that there is a large pool of 48/50. If so - they will pick the alternates and the 50/50 essays first, of course.
So let's just say that there are 48 spots, and 24 people have 360+ points. 24 Spots are gone. They will choose 49/50 essay scores next (which are probably few because I've never even heard of a 49/50 score). So at this point let us assume there are about 20 spots left. If there are 50 people with 48/50, then they have other ways of weeding people out, but few will be weeded out most likely.
Then as a last resort, they will randomly choose from the 48/50 pool to determine who are the alternates and who get accepted. Not getting an email yet is a good thing :)
Okay. So I just heard that someone with a 358 was NOT accepted, but they got a C in BI231 - so that means that there ARE too many in the 358 pool and they had to resort to the class grade BI231 tie-breaker. They might be using random selection at this point, but it's at the 358 pool level - just as I suspected. The anticipation IS KILLING ME!!!
I'm sorry TMFK1005, but if your friend has 50/50 on the essay with full points and then DIDN'T get in, then how on earth did someone with the total points of 358/360 get to be alternate #8 - as someone posted earlier on this thread?
That doesn't make any sense. Maybe they do background checks before they email acceptance letters and your friend didn't pass?

Still worried! A few years ago a perfect score was no guarantee. Are they trying to give us all heart attacks, staggering notifications?
