Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi all,

Hoping to start a Chem study group for Spring 2008. I do not begin class until January 15th but figured I would see about getting a group together as soon as possible.

Hey everyone! I want to join! My name is CJ, Im 23 and a stay at home mom/full time student. I took Chemistry my first semester in college and dropped it, I was sure I was going to fail it. So here I am, a year and a half later and a bundle of nerves to try again!

Has anyone bought something to get a head start with? I was thinking of buying the Chemistry to Dummies book, since my college wont let us buy our books until Jan. 5th. I figure I might as well get a head start!

Wishing you all a great semester!

Anyone taking organic bio chem??? (Spring 2009)

Hi, this thread is soooo long, I apologize if my question is repetitive...

Does anyone have any helpful weblinks or suggestions for remembering electronic configurations? I do ok until I get to the higher shells and the subshells start to skip around... for example, between the 3d and 3f subshells, the next electrons fill the 4s subshell... I start getting confused at that point. Also, any additonal info on the electron dot/Lewis structures would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Hey Everybody.

I'm in my second semester of college and I have Chem this semester...

Took my first exam and bombed:crying2:

I still have time to turn it around, everyone I talked to who had the class last semester said they all failed the first exam and they ended up getting a 3.0

They even said I did "fairly good" (If still failing the exam is "fairly good") considering...

Let me know if you got your answer. The answer is right on the periodic table of the elements! We always have one on the wall in our classroom, even during tests, and it makes a world of difference if you know how to read the arrangement. In the meantime I will try to see if I can find a site that explains it. There are a few mnemonics for it, and that is only one way. Did you check your text book? It looks like a pyramid with lines drawn through it.

The first group (Hydrogen and Helium) are the 1s2, the next group and every group after that corresponds as follows blue's are s2, orange is p6, pink is d10, and green is f14. If you can memorize that then all you have to memorize from there is the shell number (1,2,2,3,3,4,3,4,5,4,5,6,4,5,6,7,5,6,7).

I hope that helps at a little bit.

Just started Intro to Chem (Chem 60 ) at West L.A., any reason why I should

take Fundamentals of Chem instead ...... Do some colleges prefer it to chem 60?

Thanks!
