Chem Fall 2007

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm hoping we can make this a sticky and have a new Chem group for Fall 2007. I'm starting August 23. I'm taking Chem (of course), A&P 1, and Nutrition. Anyone else up for a Chem group?

Good Luck to us All!!:yeahthat:

Chemistry will be over Dec 15th, (excluding the Saturday after Thanksgiving) and I can't wait. I've done better than I expected, I have a solid "B" average. The instructor is a medical doctor, and she relates much of the material to why nurses need to know it. It makes it easier when you know you'll be using the material in the future, better learn it the 1st time around!

AW: Administrative Withdrawl. We have a Test tomarrow, and the final test on Dec 6. Our final does not count on our grade, just a diagnostic to see what we know.

i totally blew this test. i dropped down to a c+. i have to stay above a c in order to get on the waiting list:o

I am getting an A in Chemistry after having started it several times over the past 20 years and then withdrawing a few weeks in.

The difference for me is the Cliff Notes Study Solver. It is not the little pocket sized guy. Its structure/pacing resembles the average College Chemistry class; it explains the concepts very easily. It has been the difference between failing and doing very well for me. It's available at Amazon at half the price I paid for it at B&N.

LOL "powerpoint boy" thats so funny. My chemistry teacher is a powerpoint fanatic. All his lecture notes are on powerpoint and we're basically not following him most of the time. Worst part when we ask for him to explain how to do a problem, he tell us to go back to our textbook and read, exclaiming that if we read our assignments we wouldn't have a problem. Majority of the time, everyone can't learn from the book, they have to see it done to understand it. A few of my classmates and me are always huddling after class to help each other out now, we're basically learning from each othr than from our professor.

wow, if I had a powerpoint chem prof, I would surely fail the class because I can't understand a thing in that book...I'm glad my prof likes to go over different problems....sigh, I got an 80% on my second exam (a 96% on the first exam)..I really want an A in this class. That darn Anatomy class and prof are taking up so much of my time...my third exam is this wednesday, so I'm going to try to pull my grade back up to an A...so far, my average is an 88

I know exactly what its like to have a Powerpoint Addict for Chemistry. My teacher for Chemistry in Spring 07 was like that. And just like yours if we had a problem, he would tell us to go look in the book. Thank God, my teacher this semester is alot more insightful and fair!

Yeah don't you hate it when professors doesn't want to explain a little more but expect you to understand it. As today, I'm meeting up with my classmates so we can help each other get caught up in the class. Hopefully it works, as Finals is around the corner and I still have to study for the TEAS exam too.

By the way this is Chem II that I'm taking, so I dont' have to take anymore. It's actually not required for my nursing major at my school, but I'm saving myself from taking it later on when I go on for my BSN and Master. I really want to become an Anesthetic Nurse. Hopefully I'll get there.

Is anyone else having difficulty with the chemistry math regarding moles and the avagadro's number? I think I get it and then I try to do the homework and I'm stuck. I thought if I could get someone else's perspective on it, it might make more sense to me. Thanks!

]Hi! I'm new here...I'm taking A&P and Fund of Chem this semester and the second part of each class next semester to complete my science requirements and apply for the accelerated nursing BA program at KSU. I have exams in each class this week. I'm hoping one of you can help with my chemistry review...The problem is "The density of methanol at 20 degrees C is 0.791 gm/ml. What is the mass, in grams, of a 280 ml sample?" Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing you meant the density is .0791 g/mL if so then what you'd take 280 mL methanol x .0791 g/mL methanol = 22.148 g methanol.

Basically try to set up your problem so that everything except whatever it is you're solving for cancels out...if that makes sense...hopefully it does.

Good luck!

What exactly do you need help with?
