Chem Fall 2007

Published

I'm hoping we can make this a sticky and have a new Chem group for Fall 2007. I'm starting August 23. I'm taking Chem (of course), A&P 1, and Nutrition. Anyone else up for a Chem group?

Good Luck to us All!!:yeahthat:

I don't think chemistry is Latin nearly so much as is biology. I agree though: I wish I'd had the opportunity to study Latin in HS.[/quote']

lol.... to me is more Latin than BI. I got 100% for my final grade in that class (with some help from my extra credit....but I would've had an A either way) & in CM I'm already down to an 88% from that test.

I did get to see my test though & found out that 1 of them that was wrong was her fault & another point I missed was simply a blank I skipped over... so it makes me feel better that I didn't "not get" as much as I though I did on it. I did tell her though that I was a nursing (pre-nursing) student & I need to learn to not miss important details.

Thank God I found this thread! The Nursing related courses I'm taking this semester are A&P, Nursing 110, and Biochemistry.

I thought I would have the most trouble in Anatomy, but right now I am failing Biochem :o Granted, we've only had one test, but I failed it miserably...I'm now learning how to adjust my study habits. We have labs which are worth a decent amount of my grade and I'm doing well on those, but we also have weekly 5 question quizzes that are killing me...my prof will drop our lowest three quizzes which is awesome, but I'm still not doing well.

For this past week's quiz, I studied for hours...as I would have if it were a test, and I only got a 5/10 points. It was just stupid mistakes, but they really do add up considering that there's only 5 questions that are worth 2 pts each.

Sorry, I just needed to vent here...sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who's doing horribly, but my prof told us our first exam average class grade was a 68...I really am just stressing out so much because I'm terrified of failing the class. :uhoh3:

You're obviously studying a lot. The question is, how do you test yourself to determine if you're ready for the test or if you know the material and should move on to something else?

Are you able to answer all of the chapter exercises and your homework?

Well for the last test I just don't think I studied enough in general because it was the first test & I didn't know what to expect, so hopefully the next one will be better now that I'm studying more.

For the last quiz, I outlined the chapter, did the learning check practice problems at the end of each section, and did half of the chapter review problems (the ones that had the answers in the back of the book so I could check my work.) The bad thing is that I felt confident going into the quiz (more so than I have with any of the other ones we've taken) and I did the worst on it. I know it was just stupid mistakes so hopefully on the remaining quizzes I'll be able to pull it together...and check my work thorougly.

Oh and unfortunately we never get any homework in this class. I never thought I'd say this, but I wish we did because at least then I'd have my work being graded and checked each class.

I am glad Chemistry is finally turning around for me. I am realizing that I just get so nervous and allow myself to be overwelmed causing me to make stupid mistakes on quizze's and test. For me prayer and hardwork are really getting me thru the mental challenges Chemistry puts on a person.

Ahhhh, I had my first Chem exam this week. I got a 92... which I am very thankful for! I was sweating bullets during the dingdang thing. The average for the class was 63%. So like I said... I'm very thankful. It was so hard because we only had a little over an hour and once I got to the end, I didn't have time really to go back over and check everything like I like to do. Plus I didn't really get to double check my sig figs and stuff like that. Anyway, just wanted to share the good news! If I can do it... anyone can! LOL

Wooo hoo! Got a 98.5% on my second o-chem exam! I'm finding that actually love this stuff! O-chem is fascinating, but i'm glad this isn't a full year of o-chem... then it would be too much! We have our O-chem final next week, and then we are moving on to biochemistry.

Yeah, it's still a while away, but I keep thinking at the comprehensive final at the end of the semester . . . already dreading it.

I'm hanging on with a 86%, not too bad but my test scores haven't been great and the final is 15% of our grade now that's making me nervous.
