This reminds me of the news report from the other day where NA's had obtained 'fake' licenses.....makes one wonder if some of our 'fellow' nurses didn't 'pay' for thieir licenses as well???????
Where is their sense of 'USING YOUR HEAD'?????? Come on here.....a majority part of nursing is 'plain ole' horse sense'....as my daddy would say.
I hope you had a talk with this 'professional' nurse and asked here for the rational of her actions???????
Many a 'damn good nurse' is still on the payroll...only no energy/ambition/desire to toe the line anymore....still knows what to say in report in a way that insinuates good assessment skills, but little desire to 'clean up' or 'deal with the doc' anymore and if you pass it on, you didn't offically 'miss' anything...only ran out of time. Oh yes, it has been known to happen.

I had a patient with C. diff, bottom so sore from going thousands of times, tells night shift his butt hurts. The nurse assumes he must be constipated and gives him milk of mag, even though there are four BM's of diarrhea marked on his chart from the previous day. I come into work to a holy sh!t storm. And nurse passes in report that we need to get something ordered for his sore butt (mycolog cream laying at bedside to be used q shift, signed off by same nurse). I am certainly not saying I don't make mistakes, because I know I do, but come on! Poor pt. was in pain and nursing made it 10x worse! Just had to vent.....
