CHARLOTTE NEW GRAD (ATRIUM / NOVANT ) 2023/2024

Published

Hello, I am creating this form for nursing students in the Charlotte area to connect and discuss our insight on the interviewing process, units and our hospital of choice.

To start off, I am a 2024 new grad looking for insight on ATRIUM and Novant health. I do currently have an interview for Novant next week looking to work in the ER.

I've received an email for the critical care track to rank which ICU I would like to interview for, but other than that I haven't heard anything.

Does anyone know about Novant's Charlotte region for NICU / women's services? Have people been offered positions and is there already a waiting list?

How long did it take to hear back in regards to that? I didn't realize applications close for certain specialists on the 22nd, so hoping I still got a chance at the ER. & im not sure, when I attended the informational section she stated they had a lot of openings in Winston so I think they pushing for us to go there.

I applied to Atrium on Dec 13, got the email on Dec 19, and that was the last of that. The email mentioned that interviews will be scheduled for January, but that's all the info they gave. I'm assuming things will pick up once everyone's back in from the holidays.

Okay, hopefully they still look at my application because Novant didn't give me the location I wanted to be at.

NICU is a popular specialty so I'm sure they probably already started, I do know they hire a lot for L&D

I received an offer from Novant for a unit that wasn't on my radar, waitlisted for my second choice, and I guess denied from my first? Not trying to sound bratty or anything (I'm gonna take the offer) but I don't know how to feel about it.

I'm new to the conversation so I hope you don't mind me joining in? I also applied to Novant and they only offered me med surg. I don't think it's bratty at all to feel conflicted about it. I ended up not taking the Novant offer and I'm holding out for atrium and another hospital in South Carolina that's close to me. At the end of the day, it's about what makes you feel happy and fulfilled. The whole job proceeds is a little confusing and scary at times, but I hope you end up where you are happy!

Have you heard anything from atrium? I haven't yet but I'm hoping they will start reaching out soon since the holidays are over.

I just received an offer from Novant as well. I wanted ICU but they offered me stepdown, which is fine. I'm probably going to accept it and see what Atrium has to offer once their interviews start since I applied for their critical care track.

Same, I wanted NICU/L&D, was toying with the idea of a medical ICU, and got step down. It's just nerve wracking because I want what I want, but I also don't know what I don't know.

Still nothing from Atrium.
Thanks for your words! It's just a struggle because I don't want to have tunnel vision and miss out on a great opportunity that might serve me more than what I think I want will.

So it seem like all of us who wanted ICU got ICU stepdown, which still makes me feel conflicted because I just don't see myself getting that full experience

I believe atrium is beginning to look at applications! I received a call a couple hours ago that I got an interview for oncology! I also applied to pediatrics and critical care, but haven't heard anything yet.
