Hello,
I'm new to this board and just recently got an email to attend an interview for the clinical nurse leader - entry level masters of nursing next week at Charles drew university. I was wondering if anyone else has gotten an interview? I would like to talk to some of you interested in attending this program. I visited the campus and spoke to some faculty, it seems like an amazing place. Look forward to talking to some of you in the same boat as I am in.
Sincerely,
Ms1988
Does anyone know when is the latest I can take the GRE for the June 30th deadline for Fall 2011? I have not taken it yet. I got 2 different responses from the school. When I called, the secretary said they needed the score by June 30th. When I emailed, they said they needed it by Aug 31. Does anyone know?
Hey everyone, I also recently completed my application at this school. Can anyone tell me how the interview went this week? They told me it was pretty much a take your TEAS/"get to know you" sort of 1-day thing. Was it intense? Laidback? I am cramming for the TEAS now and a little concerned about the interview.
yea it was pretty much take the teas and get to know you. they made me feel really comfortable during the interview and the little writing sample and group work thing was pretty kick back, i do believe it was a little unfair to send us a letter 4 days before the interview because part of it included taking the teas exam and four days was NOT enough time to study. nor would it give a good reflection of our potential and i can imagine that taking the teas test with a 4 day warning would only test what our knowledge base would be at the moment. the only intense part of it is that its a 7 hour day long event and depending on what your schedule is, i say the lucky ones get to test first because you're not exhausted in the middle of the day taking it, some advice? be 10 min early and dress appropriately.
Layleebug, thanks for your response. I do agree that 4 days is such short notice. Up until like last week, I thought the only test we had to worry about was the GRE. But I hear ppl do better on the TEAS than the GRE so you should be good (I think we need a 67% or higher). So the writing sample was separate from the TEAS test?
It sounds like everything went good and was pretty laid back. Although it was a long 7 hours, at least you got it over with in one day. Best of luck.
Its approved by WASC. other schools that are approved by WASC are CSULB, CSUF etc
direct quote from school:
"The program was granted initial approval by the California Board of Registered Nursing in June 2009. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges granted its approval in March 2009."
Hi guys,is everyone aware that this school isn't accredited? It is "approved" by CA board of Nursing but it's not accredited by NLN or CCNE.
Can anyone tell me if they know for sure that it is accredited before i apply to this school?
thanks.
Yes. I noticed this as well, but it has to do with the fact that this school just got started and the first cohort has not taken the NCLEX yet. In order to get NLNAC or CCNE accreditation I believe a school must has NCLEX rates and info to go off (usually it's after the first 2 years of the program). Basically, I'm saying there is not enough for these accreditation agencies to fully judge their criteria and compare to see if the school meets the requirements. Only time will tell because it's brand new.

Do you know if you took Version 4 or Version 5? I took the TEAS Version 4 in Feb @ CSUSB. I was told that they administer Version 5 at Charles Drew. All they require is 70% so your 80% is a good indicator that you'll be fine.
