Charity SON Fall 2012

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hello Everyone!

I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score?

I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God!

I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75! :uhoh3:

Good luck to everyone and I hope to meet some of my future classmates!

After reading many of you all's post about taking the Hesi test, I am very nervous myself. I am already an LPN of 5 years, and I have all of my pre-reqs, but when I take timed exams I freak out! You all make the Hesi seem so easy, but it's not easy when you have completed your Science pre-reqs like A&P and Biology several years ago. Sometimes if you don't continue to study that stuff, you loose it!

@ Phil you mentioned that you had choosen to take your math first & your science last, at Delgado testing center can you do such a thing? I was told that you do not have to take the Chemistry & Physics portion. Is that true? @ Leanna, I have been studying all the things you've suggested...Thanks.

Are there any word problems? Metric Conversions? And what is the Critical Thinking part?

I am asking because I hate that the Evolve book is so thin, and many people are saying they used other study guides. The school's website does not mention any other study material. BTW, I will probably take the test in December for the LPN-RN Bridge Program.

Any information would be helpful & grately appreciated!

Got it! Thinks Phi823

Oops! Lol! I meant, Thanks, got it Phi823

Omg U know what I'm trying to say! Lol

I heard the HESI is easy, just like the TEAS...just get the book online and study it....because the practice problems, especially for math, are just like the questions in the actual test.

Dear nishu09, I cannot sent private messages, because honestly I'm not on the site often enough to pay for private. My advise for doing well in your first semester is to first figure out the best way you retain information. I loved the tegrity program. I listened to it 24/7. If a chapter was recommended, and I couldn't read it, I would read the summary in the back of the books. I would sometimes rewrite my notes and do flash cards.

Sending private messages is not a "paid" service. Once a member has at least 15 substantial posts (not merely boosting post count), the member can send private messages.

HMMM....How is that math test you have to take mid-semester like basic math or algebra? I believe we get 3 chances to make 90%

I am currently a level 1 when our acceptance letters went out 70 was the cut off. good luck

can anyone tell me if csn calculates an f from an algebra class into you csn gpa if it is over five years old?

Nolakay, the"f" would still be claculated even if it was 10 yrs old unless you were granted academic amnesty in which all of your grades would be wiped clean for you to start over. As far as the profile sheet for Charity, the section that says any D's or F's in the last five years, you would be ok fo that part. I had a F in a marketing class because I didn't drop it from 1994, and it is still calculated in my gpa, but not the csn gpa since marketing is obviously not in the CSN curiculum. But the algebra is.
