How much do you get for charge pay? We get 8%. We have a cap of $2.00 per hour, and a regular charge nurse who gets 10%. She works 4 day a week so we get the other 3. No way is it worth a few bucks! Mabey time and a half...............I like to have my assignment, and not worry about all the other stuff, pt complaints, staff whining, ....
Where I work we have a union. Many times I hear the charge nurses say they only get a dollar extra an hour. What they do not say is they are considered part of management and pay 0 union dues.So that dollar an hour is actually a much heftier sum.
We're union, get 1.50/hour, and we are definately union members. My union dues are prorated, so I actually get LESS when I earn more. However, I wouldn't ever give up my union here (but that's a whole 'nother thread, or 20 of them or so!)
We make $1.25/hour here. Nope, not worth it. I find that it depends on the staff that I'm working with though - sometimes it's okay but there have been times where we've been short and I've been not only in charge but the only RN on the unit (staffed with LPN's and nursing students). Not fun, especially when you have a patient not doing well.

$1.25/hour here, sometimes the staff I am in charge of is very very green and although they try really hard they need a little more supervision than others.... its just a throw of the dice I guess.
Nurse's base starting pay: $19.24/hr.
Charge nurse bonus: $1.00/hr.
Prestige of being entrusted with such an important and highly respected duty: Priceless.
My, how jaded and cynical some of you have become! At my hospital, some of the FNG's actually fight for the chance to do charge, probably because they usually don't have patient assignments.

We get a flat rate $2.50/hr--totally not worth the aggrevation!!
We get a dollar an hour. And we had to complain to get that. Good grief. Why are we doing this???? I just don't think I can take it anymore. And I work parttime!!! I have to be charge nurse next week, maybe I'll buy some donuts for everyone. at least we'll get something to eat. :angryfire
No extra pay and usually end up with several hall patients. You can usually be assured that you will be grilled and questioned as to why you decided to handle something a particular way by your director who wasn't there at the time. That director thinks she's in charge of the ED on Fantasy Island or something where everything runs smoothly all the time. Want to talk about jaded? :angryfire
