I am having some difficulties with my recruiter. This is my first travel assignment and she has called only once. I've been at this assignment for a month now. When I do call she never calls back. PLus other issues that I have had with her. I was wondering how do you go about asking for a new recruiter. Thanks for any advice to follow.

I have done things like that. I just say I don't think we are a team match, I would like to work with someone else. If they no I say bye bye. Stinks when they don't call you back.

Fortunately I have had the same recruiter for 4 years and we are a good match. If you really like the company and feel that it is strictly a recruiter problem, then you should ask for the manager and discuss changing with them. If you are having any other difficulties, chalk it up to a bad first choice and find another company. I have heard other travelers mention this problem as well....recruite you heavily till you committ and then abandon you. Not a good practice if they want returning nurses! Good luck. Your recruiter is the key to your success traveling.
Dixielee,
I remember listing with agency after agency saying they had what assignments I was looking for. When it came down to it, no one had what I wanted....grrrrrrrrrrrr. Mountains of paperwork later I found one.

Call the company you work for and ask to speak to the supervisor or vice president over the recruiters and tell her/him your concerns and that you'd like another, more responsive, recruiter. I did this and received a call from my new recruiter in a matter of minutes. The competition for nurses in the travel industry is fierce.
When asking to change recruiters, did it cause any conflicts with your old recruiter?
When you change recruiters you deal with the new one. You won't hear from the other recruiter anymore.
I spoke with the superviser in charge of my recruiter. She suggest taht I stay with teh same recruiter. Is this normal? Should I continue to pursue this or look for another company? Thanks for any suggestions to follow.
I'd finish the contract and find a different company.

Did she say why she thought you should stay with a recruiter you aren't working well with? Was it a good reason?
I would (and have) said "I disagree- it's not working well for me. I'll be happy to listen to your thoughts on this, but I want to be reassigned." The "I'm the customer here!" attitude can be taken WAY too far by some people but if you want a new recruiter, it really shouldn't be a big deal for them to switch you.
And then it is up to you whether or not you tell them you are leaving after this assignment if you aren't reassigned or if you let them be surprised later.
The supervisor of my recruiter stated that I should stay with my recruiter cause she has seniority and that she has a good reputation with her other travelers. Then she made a bunch of excuses why I haven't heard from her in 2 weeks. I stated again that I would like to change, and she again stated that she would have my recruiter call me today to work things out.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
