Hello,

I have taken the NCLEX exam (and failed) before having a green card and when living out of the country. I applied for Colorado because they did not asked for the CGFNS or the english exam. Now I am living in TN and not sure how can I do to retake the NCLEX without going through the CGFNS.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

You have to meet BON requirements of which most now only require a CES (eval of your transcripts) There is no way to avoid if the state requires it even if endorsing. TN requires CES so would suggest CES CGFNS full course by course

You will not be able to sit for the exam without going thru CGFNS for the CES now as most states are requiring it. And to try to go to another state, you are still going to need it to endorse to the state where you are now living.

Not sure why you are trying to stay away from them.

Yes, you can definitely sit for the NCLEX without having a CGFNS certificate or CES. Why waste $378.00 to $418.00 to pay CGFNS if you can sit for the NCLEX without it? Check the different BONs for their requirements.

But if endorsing then will still need to meet the BON's requirements as foreign trained nurse and if that means CES then it needs to be done. Just because you have a US license does not mean it will be accepted for endorsement. I endorsed from NY to AZ after I passed NCLEX and still had to do CES

When I checked about a month ago, TN required the CGFNS test and not just the CES. Have they changed their requirements?

TN's requirement for endorsement is either one of the following:

a) Copy of Certificate on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School "OR"

b) School transcript

You can ask your school to mail directly your school transcript to TN BON to avoid going through CGFNS.

thanks to all for your help.

if i understood correctly what i need to do now is to go through cgfns and there is no other choice, right?:crying2:

oh well, i will have to try that then, my husband is still going to be working in nashville tn for a while and i need to start making money with the gas prices and the recession.

just to know, does anyone can tell me which states requires only ces?

thanks again

you do not have to go through cgfns and pay a fortune for this private company. apply for nclex in any state that won't require cgfns. after taking the exam and passing, endorse that license to tn. download the forms you need in their website. as a foreigh graduate nurse, your only option is to ask your school to mail your transcript directly to tn board of nursing since you do not have a cgfns cetificate. your school should mail the transcript directly to tn bon and not yourself. hope this helps.

Even if endorsing the BON will still treat you as a foreign trained nurse and may still require you to meet their requirements. Better to check with the BON first otherwise you may still end up pay more money out.

You will always be treated as a foreign educated nurse no matter what you do and where you go in the US. As per my previous post, the two additional requirements for a foreign educated nurse applying for endorsement in TN are:

a) Copy of Certificate on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School "OR"

b) School transcript

Please take note of the word "OR" which means you can submit either one. Since you do not have a CGFNS certificate (requirement A) you can ask your school to mail your school transcript (requirement B) directly to TN BON to avoid going through CGFNS. Thus, saving a lot of money!:yeah:

Hi TravellingBSN-RN

I saw your old posts. I have the same question about my RN liscense transfer to TN . I don't have CGFNS, so I want to talk to my school to mail my school transcript, but I don't have the faintest idea what a school transcript is. Could you tell me what it is and what kind of information my schoolit to TN nursing board?
