chandler gilbert nursing program

U.S.A. Arizona

Hello, Im due to start the nursing program at chandler gilbert community college this fall and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this program, at this school. Like how the teachers are? Cause I know that a bad teacher can make your life hell, espicially in nursing school. Just seeing if anyone is currenty in there program and can say anything about it, thanks Paul.

We took the HESSI as an evaluation tool, not a requirement for NCLEX, but things change.

I think something more important to look at is the number of students that fail....Are those students getting the support they need?

I would hope that the administrators at the nursing colleges would be examining this. As for my class, as I can see, the folks that dropped were not that good of students in the first place. They were struggling from the beginning quiz. I really think they ought to go back to GPA to determine who gets in.

Can anyone walk me through the process of applying for the program?

I contacted the woman I was suppossed to Maria, but she never responded. I was accepted into the school but have no idea how to apply for the nur program.

Thanks!

Hi Paula,

I am in the nursing program through Gateway community college. It's part of the Maricopa County system so the process is the same. I checked the Chandler-Gilbert website and decided I didn't like it so I'll ask you to check the Mesa CC website. It's more user friendly IMO.

Here's their application process. The information/application packet covers the process and also lists the pre-requisites to apply to the program. I had some classes I had taken a decade ago that counted. I took the ones I needed at MCC but you can take them anywhere, it's just cheaper to take them at the community colleges.

Once you have all the pre-reqs complete you fill out the application and the nursing advisor will check it over to make sure your transcripts and other documentation is correct. You will also give them the top 5 programs in order where you want placement. They will then give you a call or letter to offer you a spot when one opens up. Good luck and welcome to Arizona!:welcome:

AZhiker-Thank you so much for all the help. I actually have that packet, I guess I just need to read it a little more!

So don't apply until all pre-reqs are done. Got it. Thanks again!!

Paula

You may apply for the nursing program even when you are in your last semester of your preqs. If you just have a couple of preqs left they let you apply early....it helps because it gets you on the list a little sooner. They date/time stamp it. You have to request the early application/packet and give proof that your in your last preqs classes like a registration receipt.

AZ hiker,

I am at Gateway, and will be starting block two in the fall.

What block are you in?

Hi Smurfy. I am starting block 3 on July 24th. Congratulations on finishing block 1. The pace seemed to me to pick up a bit in block 2. If you have not already found a study partner, please find one. It helps a lot. I tend to do my studying alone but did do some with others and it was very helpful.

Good Luck!

Thank you!! I am so nervous, but at the same time I am very excited. I know my age can be a benefit, I am older, wiser, and very responsible. I just hope being out of school for 20 years hasn't left me completely in the dark. I can not even help my 12 year old with her math homework. That is really sad. But one day hopefully in the near future I will. Good luck to you also!!!

Hi I am also attending Chandler-Gilbert Community College this Fall, I am taking 4 classes online, because I have young children at home to take care of right now. I haven't been in school for almost 10 years now, so I am very excited but nervous as well. I wish the best of luck to you to.

Is the nursing program at chandler/gilbert CC held at the pecos or williamsfield campus?
