Hello, Im due to start the nursing program at chandler gilbert community college this fall and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this program, at this school. Like how the teachers are? Cause I know that a bad teacher can make your life hell, espicially in nursing school. Just seeing if anyone is currenty in there program and can say anything about it, thanks Paul.

Don't know anything about it, but could you tell me what you had to do to get admitted to this nursing school? Did you have to test, interview, write an essay? I don't mean the pre-reqs-what did you have to do in addition to the pre-reqs??
To get admitted to this school you just have to apply the same way you do at all the commuinty colleges with the application, and you just rate chandler gilbert community college as one of you 3 choices. Theres no special interview, essays or anything. Paul

Does anyone know what the wait list is like at this school?
Thanks!
I only had to wait out 1 semester, since I applied in the fall as provisonal status, and they didnt have a spring starting program, this spring since it just started in the fall for the first time. But I got placed into the fall.
Thank you so much for the info!
Best of luck to you.

Hey Nice to hear!! I am starting my pre reqs this summer at chandler gilbert. I am very excited, I have wanted to be a nurse for so long. I have not been in school for almost 20 years. I know I have a lot ahead of me, but I have a strong drive to learn.

Good luck to you twistedmom. I'm 43 and in Block 1 at Phoenix College. You have a great road ahead of you. Make sure you always remember that your age is a BENEFIT to you. Draw on your experiences and have fun.:gandalf:
Added Gandalf for no particular reason except that he looked cool....

Thank you!! I am so nervous, but at the same time I am very excited. I know my age can be a benefit, I am older, wiser, and very responsible. I just hope being out of school for 20 years hasn't left me completely in the dark. I can not even help my 12 year old with her math homework. That is really sad. But one day hopefully in the near future I will. Good luck to you also!!!

Hey, I'm right there with ya. I couldn't even try to help with math homework until I had to take Algebra at MCC. My instructor was great, I got A's and now I can help my kids with their stuff. It's such a good feeling to "know how to do math" now. If you need a name of a great instructor, PM me and we'll talk. He was great with returning students. You'll get through this part and before you know it you'll be doing the stuff you set out to do....nursing stuff. And, believe it or not, you will need those math skills after all :smackingf

Overall the Maricopa Community Colleges do a great job of passing the NCLEX. The scores may not indicate everything about a program, but the passing rate should be noted. I would like to see the passing rate for the individual Maricopa Community Colleges.

Do the Maricopa nursing programs require student to pass the HESI before taking the NCLEX? I know some programs do everything they can to weed out the 'weaklings' in order to inflate their pass rate on the NCLEX.
