Chances of getting into nursing school

Published

I'm a immigrant and had to work full time while I was in college full time. I did health and psychology. I did horrible in my sciences, but my psychology grades weren't bad. My overall GPA is 2.3

does anyone know if I have any chance of getting into the online accelerated BSN program at university of Texas Arlington program?

Are you RN or LPN?

I'm neither. I just have a BA in psychology

According to information on their website the min GPA is 2.75 both in prereqs and overall. So you would need to take and/or retake some of your course work to get the GPA requirement.

That being said, doing a quick search from here on allnurses - this person was wait listed for the online program that just started this January. That can serve a little bit of guide to the current going stats necessary.

Hello everyone!

Starting a thread for those of us who are applying for Spring 2016 for UTA's online BSN program. Just wanted somewhere where we can vent, talk and ask questions. Ill be applying with a 3.5 overall, 3.75 in my sciences and 88.5 on HESI. I will also have 2 considerations! Hope to hear from other potential applicants as well

With the continuing competition for this program, the actual GPA of admitted students is very high - not even close to the minimum that is posted in the catalog.

I completely agree with HouTX. It is becoming really competitive but give it a shot. You can contact them as well to see if they'd open to tell you this. GOODLUCK

Thank guys. I sent in my transcript and I'm waiting for a response. I spoke to someone today and I was told I should have an answer by the end of next week...I just want to get into the general admissions so I take the pre requisites..I'm confident that I can do well in my pre requisites. I currently live in New York and I suffered from their overcrowded science class room. My biology and chemistry lectures had approximately 100-250 students, I did not like it at all. I'm really praying that God will give me a second chance: I didn't rush back into school since I graduated 6yrs now, because I didn't want to go back into a setting like this and I wanted to make sure I'm making the right decision. I'm married with two toddlers and if I get into the program we are all relocating to Houston. I'm praying that we are making the right decision. My husband work for the state now and he is also finishing up his last semester in nursing school. If I get into he he willing to look for jobs in Houston and we all move there. He is tired of New york's busy life and want to move somewhere more family oriented!

Anyone is in the BSN Program at UTA that is not originally from Texas? How do you find the program and relocation so far?

Hey hope it works out for you and your husband. I agree with suggestions that it's getting really competitive.

Thank you guys, for all the wonderful advise! I got into UTA general admissions: I'm waiting to get my degree plan, so I can choose my classes and start in April! I'm so happy!
