Chances of getting a nursing job after bridging. What are the factors?

Is there a high chance to get a nursing job in Australia after the bridging? Anyone knows what region or place in Australia still has a high demand for nurses? Thanks.. I am scared to waste my hard earned money..

Ok thanks for the advice. With my experience ( 2+yrs medical ICU and 2 yrs ER), do you i can get a job in AU if i take the BP this year? I'd much prefer AU over the UK but I'm worried about the job security there. Especially that I have to loan almost 90% of my expenses from a lending company here. Thanks for your speedy replies

Agree ;)

Kabayan, that is such rubbish on your reasoning, sorry to say. Those "almost everyone" that's willing to lend the money are not after your best interest at all. They are only interested in signing you up at these outrageous interest rates, they are only interested in getting you to sign and take the money so that they can get their commissions.

I can tell and you can see how many Phils bridgers (such as word?) have taken these BP's and how many have reported back with their hiring "success"? Only a few have been that lucky with their years of actual working RN experience from PH have bothered to say they got "a job". Most are probably after months of inquiries and are not heard of again.

As I reported earlier months ago, I know of a batchmate's cousin who took the BP course in AU, with 5 years of ICU experience, still jobless today (approaching 24 months now)and she did very well in her course loads, had good references from some of the instructors. Guess what has happened since she could not repay the loan?

They (the same loan company) use other people to get their monies back, they will call her, her family, her friends, several times a day, 7 days a week, non stop. They write demanding letters every two weeks. They don't care if you can't find a nursing job, any job, that's not their problem, it's your problem.

The constant harassment if you don't make the repayments on time is truly unbearable.

But if you know that with 100% assurance that you will have zero problems with securing a good paying nurse job the moment you complete the program, get all your paperwork done, then do it versus finding other sources from family members or friends. It's like this, you've taken the loan company funds, they need you to return those funds with high interest, if you don't pay back with the agreed terms, you're now "stealing their money", so you can see why they don't care about making these dreadful calls, going to your house, to your parent's place, to your friends. They're not doing this for charity. They don't care if there's a family tragedy (unless it's your own), not their problem, they don't want to listen to any excuses.

Anyways, it drives her into tears every living daily moment. She's not alone as three of her batchmates that she met in the BP program are also still looking for their first nursing job in AU, all with a few years of RN experience.

It would be nice if those who asked for so many questions here, those that are already finished with their programs, those that took loan company monies are actually in a good paying nursing job in AU today. Maybe they're too embarrassed to come back and write of their terrible experiences, hopefully, it's because they are just too busy working full time at their desired nursing jobs. Maybe they'll see this and prove me wrong and decide to post up.

No one talks about the "other side" of these loan companies and the devious ways they use to collect their debts that was given out, it's certainly not free money. If you have to put up assets or other collateral, they will sell them and or get some of their monies back that way.

Ask your other friends or friends of their friends who have had either positive or negative effects of borrowing (and that's really the term here) from these "loan sharks", charging such high rates. Just as it's called an investment, do the math at 50% and how long it will really take to repay every penny. Don't forget most of these "loans" start the interest rate charges from the date you get the funds. Do the math.

She and her batchmates have been told of the very likely situation of something called "wage garnishment" should they find a nursing job, actually they have been "threaten" with harsh words.

From my understanding, the loan company can get a judge in AU to slap a "wage garnishment" that effectively automatically TAKES a certain percentage of each paycheck from you that your employer must deduct and pay the loan company., so you'll never see that amount going to you.

I don't know the range of the amounts but they were told from 25% to 50% of every paycheck, then so after taxes is there really anything left over for normal living expenses.

Yes, it's still a much higher pay than what we get in the Phils, but the cost of living in AU is not at the same cheaper levels as in the Phils, such as housing, transportation, food.

It's also kind of like this: suppose someone in your family, rich relative or not so rich or a good friend is willing to put up these assets for collateral to these loan companies, what's the difference if instead you have these good beneficiaries you have sell off the same assets to pay for the total bridging cost. It will certainly not be asking for 50% interest rates, BUT at the same time, what happens if you can't repay them back as you're now a few years from finding a high paying nursing job AFTER being done with the BP?

Can you still see them, talk to them at the holidays, at more festive events, can you smile with them and look them in their eyes, knowing you haven't paid back but maybe a few pesos?

My advice, just know what you're getting into as you're really playing with the devil with this "easy money".

I also agree with this. If possible stay away from lending company, much better option is Bank loan like BDO and BPI, RCBC because they have much lower interest rates like 7-8%. But be sure to comply with their requirements. To be able to loan one of their req is for you or your family member to have a monthly salary of 20k up.

On the other hand, on the contrary to your statement re working opportunities, all of my 5 colleagues from the same hospital who took the bp in oz landed a job in oz, 3 onshore and 2 offshore..

Wow that's a relief from the previous posts here. So you loaned from a bank huh? Did you process your own documents for AHPRA registration? How many yrs of exp do u have? Thanks

It is interesting that one that lives here apparently has no insight into what is happening around here, okay, lets stick to the paridym then, if it happened months, years ago, it is still happening regardless, new visa restrictions, points for pr up, then we just blame Australians for letting it happen when 95% of the time it all goes pear shaped.:banghead:

Once again, Do not take out big loans with big interest with family assets at risk...there now at least one Australian cannot be held responsible.

Go to a bank, and/or try getting it from family only.

Everyday I take emails/phone calls from overseas nurses desperate for work because they need to pay loans back. I am over it, just wears you down.along with other things.....thank heavens I have resigned.

yeps i did it on my own i just send all the requirements today, i have 4 and half years of paid experience as a full time staff nurse. Not sure yet if im going to loan in the bank, but its going to be my option, if ever my Father cannot finance everything. Re: Job opportunities its really case to case basis, maybe my colleagues are just lucky, and im just hoping the same luck too...(=

Indeed, given that all of your 5 colleagues from the same hospital were able to secure post-bp OZ jobs, how long ago was this? Within the last few months or in this past year?

This is where you really need to be extremely careful. It could very well be your Father that the debt collectors will be contacting daily if you can't repay the loan companies money.

That's exactly what my batchmates cousins and friends have SORELY regretted in taking out these loans and their's was at the "lower rate" of 35%, which is still excessive!!

What it is now is that the daily interest amount is added on to the main borrowed amount. As you do the simple math, any payments received is only going to pay down the accrued interest so in essense, they and all other non-payers are paying "interest on top of interest", thus, the main amount borrowed never gets touched until one can make even higher monthly payments.

So they will not only contact their fathers, mothers, friends, relatives, they call them at home, on their cells, some have even go to their working places. I can tell by their e-mails of how stressful this is and how embarrassing, if tears could come out thru the computer screen, I would have a flood. These debt collectors are very unprofessional after a few months of no promised payments.

Actually 3 of thm took bp late 2011, 2 late 2012, and the eariest mrch 2013 shes a theater nurs. All came from st

St. Pauls Hospital. I also know some other staff from ER but not that close whose already eorking in oz, took bp 2012.

Thats why i posted that its much better to loan in a BANK, so long as you or member of your family can satisfy da requirments. Their interest rate is arnd 7-8 % depending on your terms of payment.

Oh, and you will be available to apply in? 2014!!! that seems okay then.

Better hold your horses, things are a changing with education and overseas nurses also.

What do you mean? " It seems ok then to apply in 2014?"....
