Chamberlain Students/Graduates: Advice Re Which Classes...

Published

Hello. I am done with Transitions, and half-way through Advanced Comp. and Cultural Diversity. I am in a dilemma. I want to take 2 courses each session, but confused on choosing the right classes. I am so overwhelmed this session. I knew Adv. Comp will require a lot of writings, but didn't realize that Cultural Diversity has paperwork every week (plus a huge Research paper), quizzes, and a final.

I need help from a fellow Chamberlain students/graduates. Please give me your suggestion. These are the classes I have left to take.

Health Assessment

Community Health

Collaborative Healthcare

Information Systems

Evidence-based Practice

I think I have to take Capstone by itself. It sounds huge. I also need to take an extra 2-credit class to fill the 1 credit hour that I am missing. They suggested COMP-100 Computer Applications for Business with Lab or HIT-202 International Classification of Diseases Coding I with Lab (I'm thinking of taking Coding).

Thank you in advance for your help. :)

Collaborative Healthcare goes well with everything, I think -- it has assignments, but they're not as involved as some of the other classes' assignments. Some of the other classes you list are pre-reqs of the others (like you have to have Info Systems before EBP, I think), so that rules those out as two you can take together. The remaining classes all have pretty big assignments; I don't think it's impossible to do them, but you will have to be careful about planning your time! The Capstone hasn't been too bad, but it is one big synthesis project, and you have to have completed all the other nursing classes before you can do the Capstone.

I did the COMP-100 class to fulfill my 32 credits -- it was easy, but I'm a Microsoft Office geek anyway, so it wasn't much of a challenge.

Hello firefox i But i am new to this forum. But i will be beginning Chanmberlain distance program in july. i am very nervous. How are the classes and how many have u taken already?

LunahRN, thanks a lot for the info. You have always been helpful. It's great to learn that you took Comp 100. Is it a paperwork-class again, with a huge one in the end? If not, I may decide to take it instead of Coding. I'm okay with computer. :)

Keepitmoving, I am new, started in March with 1 class. This session I'm taking two. It's overwhelming because of the paperworks. Remember, each session is 8 weeks that's why lessons are all cramped up. If you decide to take two classes, be ready. It's not easy.

I found this info right on time. I have been talking to Chamberlains admission rep regarding starting their program. The information I was given is that I need 4 general education courses and 7 nursing courses based on my transcripts to complete BSN. I was told that I possibly can finish within a years time. I am not decided yet. After reading the above information I don't think these classes will be as easy as I thought. I am also looking into JacksonvilleU, University of Texas, and University of Ohio. WGU is not an option anymore. Any advice regarding these universities..........Thanks

There were weekly "lab" exercises, like creating a mail merge with Excel and Word, making a spreadsheet, that kind of stuff. Nothing too complicated if you know how to use Microsoft Office. It was actually good because I hadn't really used Office 2007 much yet, and this class helped me transition from Office 2003 to Office 2007.

thanks for the advise firefox828. I really hate papers. But i gotta do what i gotta do it will be over befor i know it. enjoy ur holday weekend. If u have any other advise on what classes i should take together hit me up ttyl
