Chamberlain RN to BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Just started Chamberlain University online RN to BSN. Oh my gosh! LOTS of papers. HOLY GUCAMOLE!!:typing I feel like I'm writing papers every day. Hopefully, it will be worth it. I should be done by July. How's everyone else doing?

Hi Nancy-Good to hear from you. I spent most of the day yesterday downloading all the programs I need for the courses and trying to figure out how to navigate it all. Seems like every college's online programs have different formats, but I am getting there. Lisa

HI Lisa,

I just started with the one course- wanted to see how it went. THe whole on line thing is a bit daunting for me, so I am trying to navigate it all. THat would be great if you can bump it up to 3 courses. You'll finish up quickly that way.

Cultural diversity will probably be next semester for me.

Joan-

Online is tough till you really learn the format. My nursing course is under the angels format and the soc course is under a devry format. It's hard having to figure out 2 of them at once. Don't know if you know this but you can get to chamberlain and the GE course really just about every class site you would need under chamberlainonline.net. It saves some steps. There is also another address my.chamberlain.edu this is where your email is with the college and a whole bunch of other stuff that I am still working on checking it all out. We can communicate thru this also. I tried to send you my personal email but wasn't allowed to because I don't have 15 quality posts on allnurses so no private communication yet. This is also the place where you can get the free download of Microsoft office 2007 from the college, but you can't get it till next weds. I haven't written a paper for quite some time and a friend of mine was telling me to get something for $30.00 off the internet that sets your whole paper up in the APA format and it can be converted to microsoft format so you can upload it to your instructor. I am going to find out more about it from her next week. She says it saves her so much time when she it writing her papers. Hope this info helps you. Lisa

I will be starting on October 26th also with transition, cultural diversity, and health assessment. I was really scared to start a fully online program but with so many people saying it is a great program I feel alot better. See you in class.

Lisa,

Thanks for the info. It's been a long time since I've written a paper. THat sounds interesting RE: help online formatting APA papers to upload to Microsoft. I will check it out on line.

So SOC is under a different format. Tough enough to learn one! I have been on the tutorials all week for Angel. There is one for APA as well that my instructor wanted us to get a head start with.

I established a hotmail acct. through my.chamberlain.edu. See if you can get a hold of me there, and I will send you my main e-mail address so we can keep in touch!

Hi Lisa,

I am in the transitions class as well and haven't written a paper for a while and would love to know about the APA format as well. Are any of you on facebook. That may be a way to communicate.

Hi Nancy-The program is called perla. Have to find out exactly where she got it. There seems to be many sites out there and I want to get the one she has. As soon as I know i will post it.

Hi Everyone,

I am also taking transitions 351 starting monday the 26th. I've already been in the course, read the assignment for week one and was debating posting on the discussion threads, but I keep chickening out lol. I just keep freezing when I try to think of a critical experience or whatever that first question is calling for, I start to answer and then think that I really should pick a better patient scenario....then I can't think of one that will be good to use lol. I guess I'm just a little nervous to get started. I have used angel before, a little bit (at OU college of nursing, for about 2 weeks before I realized it was a rediculously BUSY program for a working nurse and withdrew), so I'm navigating it pretty well. I posted a bio about me on the course roster, if you want to look at it go for it!! look forward to getting to know you all a bit here and there, so we can go through it together :).

I have (moderator edit of name) for NR 351, anyone else have her? And I am on facebook if anyone wants to connect there as well :)

I have been on the course and checked out few things out. I plan on working on it tomorrow. Don't worry about what you write, your experience is your experience and no one can judge it unless they have been in your exact shoes. I am hoping to write my post tomorrow, so maybe I can help break the ice.

I just completed Health Assessment and will be starting my 3rd session Monday. I will be taking Nursing Informatics and Cultural Diversity. Someone mentioned the PERRLA APA program. It's awesome. I used it for Transitions and Health Assessment. Good luck to everyone. I haven't posted here in awhile.
