Chamberlain RN to BSN online program, July 2011

Hello Nursing World,

I will be attending Chamberlain's online program this July (God willing)... I have done all the requirements for admission and now I am just basically waiting to pick out my classes. Is anyone else starting in July? Please share the classes that you are planning to take and let's try to keep in touch so we can help/motivate each other through this process. Also, if anyone out there has completed the program, please share with us your experience and opinion on what classes are best to take together and so forth. I am scared but also so excited to be starting school again. I hope all goes well and I graduate on time. :D

One thing I forgot, in my first class, health assessment, I picked CHF as my project and have continued with it since. Now I'm in capstone and still writing about CHF, because I have all my research, papers, powerpoints, etc that I wrote over the last 8 months. It makes life easier because I'm not changing subjects all the time. In fact, I'm just rewriting my powerpoint from health assessment for capstone. Why do something new when this has worked for 8 months? So, pick a theme and run with it.

Good to know... DO you pick whatever you want thoughout or do they give you topics to pick from?

You pick your topics. Its totally different from ADN school. Its all papers, papers, papers. No tests, except in the general education classes, and those are online and you get 3 hours to complete them. The rest is papers, papers, papers. Buy the PERRLA program. I downloaded it to both my desktop and laptop. It makes your life easier.

You think its better to take a nursing with a gen. ed. class or with another nsg class? I know Im taking transitions first for sure but not sure what to pair it with. And I think I am doing 2 at a time throughout the entire program.

BTW my advisor contacted me today and said he finally got all my transcripts and will be calling me tomorrow to go over the schedule. WOOHOO! :yeah:

I doesn't matter what you take together. Its all fine. I only took 3 general ed classes and they are not that hard. I did 2 classes at a time, with the papers you have to write its enough. I let them setup my class schedule. CCN did all the work and I just did the classes. Too easy, but true.

I'm starting on July 4th as well!! Im taking that one nursing class that they recommend and then cultural diversity! Best of luck to the both of us!! How long is it going to take you to complete the program?

I'm not surprised things worked so quickly. They did all my financial aid and I haven't had to worry at all. Best of luck to all of you, and if you need anything let me know.

I'm starting off with Transitions and Health Assessment next month. And as an alumni of their ADN program, I can say that Chamberlain advisors really help make things smooth. Basically, you just coast your way through and let them do the dirty work! :smokin:

I've just started at Chamberlain, this is wk 6 of 8. Transitions in Professional Nursing. Enjoying it and learning a lot. Next class in Adv Eng Comp... It took me a couple of weeks to get into school mode (been out of school a very long time). Looking forward to the next class. Have to take math placement test soon. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Good luck to all of you.
