Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Hi everyone I will be dooing the RN to BSN online with chamberlain starting Jan. 2013. My first two classes are SOCS 350 Cultural Diversity and NR 351 Transitions in Professional Nursing. If you have any advise I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You:nurse:

Presently, I am attending Chamberlain online ,as well as , many of my fellow staff while working full time at our Super Mega Hospital here in Chicago. As for the classes , you are signed up to take are very kool ,but your Diversity class is through DeVry -it just means you can't see the next weeks assignments (Sucks). So far, I have about three more classes and it is over ,and I keep it movin. Heck, I love Chamberlain online. Matter of fact, a few of my friends have finished and are now going for their MSN at Chamberlain and elsewhere. I would suggest don't miss any "Posts" and even better -I am able to "Post " from my Android phone .Oh, make sure your computer is up to snuff ,and get some sort of artifical intelligence software to check the grammer of your papers. In the case of this comment , I am being lazy as if we are just talking -if I used my A.I. it would read flawlessly . I would suggest Stylewritter and Whitesmoke -go ahead check them out on Youtube ,and jump on your papers immediately.Follow the grading rubic and you will be golden.Hope this helps.

I graduated from Chamberlain's online BSN program in the summer of 2011. I did full time for 14 months while working 2 part time jobs (34 hours a week total) and PRN at another job (hours varied from 0 to 12 every 2 weeks). I am soooo glad I did it and recommend it to my coworkers. Best of luck. It will be over before you know it.

I will be starting in Jan 7 2013. I am looking forward to it.

I just finished my first class which was transitions. It's an easy class, just make sure you do not wait until last minute to start the posts or the homework assignments. You have to make a total of four posts per week, and two have to be APA format with citations and references. Make sure you have the APA manual, it will be your Bible (I have heard you will need it for every class). I actually liked this class and next up is cultural diversity, so we will be starting that class together! (my advisor lead me to believe that the first session I should only take one class.. To "feel it out.." But I definitely could have handled another class!)

toniannryan,

I just finished SOCS 350 (Cultural Diversity) and NR 351 (Transitions), and they worked beautifully together. I thought the Transitions class was super easy. You'll have to make 4 posts per week in the Transitions class and 6 a week with Cultural Diversity, so keep up with those and try to get them all out the way early. You have to contribute to each discussion in either class no later than Wednesday, but again, you don't want to wait until Wed. to get started, do it early. You'll have about 3 mini papers (don't remember exactly) for Socs 350 and then a large project (6-8 pages) due at week 7. Don't wait until the last minute to get started on this one. I was done with mine at week 3 (because I preferred to do my outline based off my already written paper), so all I had to do was some tweeking around submission time.

Also, for the Transitions class, you WILL NEED to buy the APA manual. I didn't at first, until we got to an assignment that required it, and then I just went to my local bookstore (Books-A-Million) and bought it. However, I did purchase another APA guide from Amazon called "APA: The Easy Way" 2nd edition. (Houghton, ISBN# 0-923568-96-2) and I found myself using it more than the required manual, especially when I needed to set a page header (p.5-6).

If you read your syllabuses and follow them exactly, along with your grading rubics, keep up with discussion postings, assignments and lectures, you'll do just fine.

Best wishes with your studies! You can do it!

Just finished SOCS and it is a lot of reading and papers, it was difficult with working full time and I took two classes but I figured it is only eight weeks and I pulled an A. I find the nursing classes very interesting. I took Transitions in the summer and got an A on that. Just take it one week at a time! Good Luck!!
