Chamberlain College of Nursing

I was wondering if anyone has information about this school? I spoke with admissions and they do not have a waiting list so all I would have to do is pass an exam and I can start in July. The school is in Addison which would be perfect for me :D However, I know it is a new campus so I am a little speculative about how easy it is to get in. There are no pre-reqs except you have to have held a GPA of at least 2.75 or higher in all previous college. Does anyone have any advice or info about his school? Any personal experiences? I just started at Chamberlain here in March, and although it is not a new school here, I have to say I absolutely love it and I really get the feeling they want to see you succeed. Most of the staff and faculty are very open door and would do what it takes to help you. I agree, its pricey, but that kind of support is priceless! Good luck to all of you!

:banghead: I had the hardest time sending you an email. However, I will be starting my pre-reqs course(english, psyc. sociology,speech, and I took a Math as well.) at ECC Thanks you so much for the advice it really help. I was surprise it was so easy it was. I made an appt and give them a list of the classes I wanted to take and I had a scheldue. I start Aug:yeah: and wanted to get a few a semester so I'm not rushing myself. Most likely I will try and sttend Chamberlain next year in June.:up: Good Luck and K.I.T. please

I been here for just a semester and can't wait to get out, I am calling other schools to transfer. The other class ahead of me are very UNHAPPY with the way they teach. According to some of these students, EVERY time they have an exam, most of the class do not pass or in the most recent exam NO ONE in the class pass the exam. The teachers throw out about 20-30 questions on every exam.

is it really that bad?? So everyone feels this way, but there are some people saying they love it? I guess everyone gets through nursing school differently.

Hi, I'm nearly ready to graduate from the Columbus campus of Chamberlain and the last two years have been the worst of my life. The faculty does not respond to constructive criticism, we were told if we didn't like the program that we should find another school. Instructors show up if they feel like it, and if they bother to show up, they often choose not to teach. Forty percent of the class ahead of us has not passed the HESI exit exam after two attempts. Class morale in in the toilet. I have been told that other classes in the program don't have the negative feelings about Chamberlain that my class has, and I'm glad for them. I have attended two other colleges and the quality of instruction was much better than Chamberlain's. Often instruction consists of receiving a Power Point and being told to read the text.

One instructor told us not to publically criticize the school, because it would make it hard for us to get jobs, but what are we supposed to do when others ask us about our experience here? I' not going to lie because it costs about $50,000 to complete the ADN program. Most of my classmates plan to purse a RN to BSN program elsewhere so that they can feature the BSN on their resumes.

Sorry to be so negative, but I really can't say anything good about Chamberlain.

Is there anyone attending Chamberlain College of Nursing in St. Louis? If so, how do you like it? How are the instructors? Will it be impossible to work full-time?

I attend the Addison campus and regardless of what people say, it's not that BAD!!! People just can't handle the coursework. I've heard so many people whine about how they aren't doing well. It's a nursing school, it's supposed to be hard. I've gotten lucky and a lot of my people in my class are very happy. Our teachers throw out 1 or 2 questions per exam. That's it. It's hard, there's nothing else to say. It's just a matter of whether people are willing to put the work in. I would not try to work full time. I don't know what the St. Louis campus is like, but I know they have a pretty good reputation down there, so I doubt you would be able to. But it's all personal. I know some people who do it, but most people I know have quit/cut their hours by the time their fundamentals course starts. Hope this helps!

Hey there's another Chamberlain College of Nursing thread below with 7 pages of writing from students that you might want to read about their experiences with that institution. Some of it is interesting. I would read it all before applying there just to be sure you know all of what you are getting into.

I am currently an LPN and would like to go for an RN, not planning to go straight to BSN, saw ADN on the Chamberlain's site but I think its only offered in OHIO?

you might want to try the other site of Chamberlain with 7 pages. I am not sure but they might give you that info. Can't remember off the top of my head.

I think Ohio is the only one that has the LPN-RN but again I am not 100 percent sure either. But I am almost certain that Ohio has the LPN-RN.
