I was wondering if anyone has information about this school? I spoke with admissions and they do not have a waiting list so all I would have to do is pass an exam and I can start in July. The school is in Addison which would be perfect for me However, I know it is a new campus so I am a little speculative about how easy it is to get in. There are no pre-reqs except you have to have held a GPA of at least 2.75 or higher in all previous college. Does anyone have any advice or info about his school? Any personal experiences? Thank you! :heartbeat
REBM,
Sorry I forgot the name for the HESI A2 but if you look up Chamberlain they have the book and you can look it up at Barnes and Noble. I know they have it in stock at the Bloomingdale store. Also the Kaplan book I used was Nursing School entrance exams book, 3rd edition. REALLY good book. Good luck to you and don't freak out because I did that and it was all for nothing because it was much easier than I thought.

Hello, I am interested in applying to Chamberlain but I had never heard of it until recently and I have lived in the area all my life. Does anyone know the graduate employment rate or the general reputation of this school? How long do they take to send admissions decisions? Are you allowed to switch campuses? I live closest to the Addison campus right now but I might move and I know there is a Chicago campus opening soon and I'm wondering how easy (if at all possible) it is for a student to switch campuses- it appears as though the programs at each campus are nearly identical. What is the HESI? Does everyone have to take this or is it only for those who have no college credits? Sorry I am asking so many questions, any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.
Worst school EVER. I have a BS from another university and have attended 3 others and this is the WORST. I am in my late 30's...not a kid. FYI...I have a 3.4 GPA before anyone thinks i am complaining because I am not doing well. I go to the St. Louis campus. If I had it to do over I would definitely have gotten my associates RN at the community college and then gotten my BSN after I stated working and saved a fortune. I have been told by several nurses that their nurse managers prefer NOT to hire Chamberlain grads. Most teachers are idiots. Have only had a few good ones. Most just read the power-points that came with the textbook....I can do that at home!! One clinical instructor we are pretty sure has early stage Alzheimer's..NOT kidding. Sweet lady but she is GONE. Every class says this in their final review....2 years later she is still there! Most clincals have been a joke.. Bad placements and learned little. One teacher told her class that her answers trump the NCLEX answers! As someone else posted we were told not to complain publicly. We were also told that if we told bad things to the accrediting agency when they came for a site visit we were only hurting ourselves. The teachers seem VERY unhappy....this sort of thing usually indicates that the people above them are terrible..which seems to be the case. If you do go here....by all means save a fortune and do all you pre-reqs somewhere else cheap first and get on the waiting list for other nursing schools....then consider them. Remember...if you get an associates RN and start working, most hospitals will pay most of your BSN. There is NO reason to pay Chamberlain what they charge and no reason to come out of school with so much debt. I wish I could go back and start over....huge huge mistake. As bad as the instruction is...the BS we have to put up with is almost as bad. Very poor communication with students. The day before clincals start I have several times STILL not know where and when to show up! Had to find out word of mouth from other students when a clincal make-up day was. I really can't say enough bad stuff about this school. I hope to get out....get my masters and then never again tell anyone where I got my BSN!!! Do yourself a favor....get you BSN at community college!!
I have a question guys.... I just got accepted to chamberlain with alittle over a 3.0 GPA and an 85 on the hesi.. they accepted me for the summer session starting July which is only a week away... I am feeling that I wll not be able to start until October due to financial aid issues... Im dropping a previous school and they ahve already taken my disbursement for this calendar year 09-10 and I do not have time to save between now and a week for a high contribution amount... They say that my application info is good for one year, so I wouldn't have to re apply or anything, but that my committee acceptance was based on teh Summer session, and htey would have to re evaluate me against the canidates in OCT when that time comes... what I would do is try to take a couple classes that I KNOW i'd have to take in order to boost my GPA some more... Do you think I'd have a problem being reapproved in OCT?? Are there alot more applicants in the Fall versus the Summer?? Im just worried because I am dropping my current program, and would honestly appreciate the gap in time just to give me some time to get fiinancialy prepared... but i wont have a GUARANTEE of starting in October... Any advice?? I might retake the Hesi test again to see if I can get a higher score than a 85... but taking a class or two over the summer can't hurt to add to my file..... You think I'd still get in???? Let me know if anyone knows!!! Thanks!
KSPAZ,
I think you are going to be okay. I was accepted last year and turned them down because so many of my BA classes weren't accepted. I took a year to take the science classes. I was going to take the HESI again and go for the summer. Then I decided I better get some more classes cheaper at my community college. I still have micro and took chem and Chamberlain has them put together and I would have to take chem again. I really didn't want to do that. So I decided on taking it at night and then starting in October. I thought that would be tough to do day at Chamberlain and nights doing micro but doable. Then I found that my math wasn't going to be accepted and I had to take 3 of them. So I then decided to take a couple of other fall classes outside Chamberlain and try for March.
I wouldn't worry so much about the GPA. I have about 160 credits with a 3.4 or 3.5 and got a 92.7% on the HESI before I ever took a science class. You will probably do better the next time because you know what to expect but your 85 is good from what I heard. Listen, they take students 3 times per year. You will get in!
Take what ever gen eds you can take now and even if you take one at night in the fall it will only be cheaper. I understand your frustration. I got frustrated having a BA from an Illinois State school and it was like I never even went. lol. It will work out. Good luck. I think you will do just fine.

All that sounds just like my community college, power points and not really needing to be there. Got on alternate list with a BA and a 3.4-3.5. They treated us like garbage. The school was cheapo and you could tell. The teachers are ****** because they aren't making as much $$. Not sure about other states but here in Illinois you cannot get a job anymore as an RN with only an associates degree so that part about hospitals paying for you to get the BSN is really pretty much over now. They can hire what ever they want now.
Pay to play is kind of the game here if you want to go to school to be a nurse in my county. I will have almost every prereq done and the other little gen eds. But I can understand it is expensive if you can't get financial aid like I cannot. I worked a job I hated and saved up as much as I could and we are able to live off my husband's salary. It won't be easy but what is easy that's really worth it. I have heard some really cruddy things about some of the community college nursing programs here, not sure about down there. I'm not the biggest fan of either really. Just want the degree and to get out of there.
Hey guys, i currently am enrolled in hondros, and will get a adn soon, i wanted to know if i went to chamberlain and got my bsn (rn-bsn course) would i be able to apply into a crna program? is chamberlain prestigious enough is what im actually trying to ask. I know most crna programs need about 1-2 yrs ICU experience, but after that would i be able to apply? what do u guys think? do you know anyone that has done it?
hi smilesss. according to my advisor, there's no need to have either act or sat scores sent in unless the score would strengthen your application. so if you scored really well, then yes you should send it in. if your score meets or slightly exceeds chamberlain's minimum requirement, there's no need.

HESI A2 is super easy. I took it last year at Chamberlain without taking any science classes and got 92.7%. I bought the HESI A2 book but it is much cheaper to buy from Barnes and Noble instead of from Chamberlain. Also got Kaplin's book there. Both were good. I just gave myself 3 weeks and it was nice and easy. I just took the PAX test and that was hard with a lot of physics.
