  1. Hey am in the same boat, can u tell me what happened with ur application with illinois? Did IL BON consider ur RN app for licensure given ur current situation? Did u submit a waiver or some kind of letter? I too just graduated BSN in the phil, but didnt take the local boards either, however, am currently an LPN licensed in the state of illinois and wisconsin, studied in the US for my LPN. But since I wanted to become an RN/BSN I went ahead and studied in the phils coz it doesnt cost too much. I am now applying for cgfns ces for illinois, sent an application for california at the same time. Just trying to see which state process my app first. Any input is appreciated.
  2. Hey! I too am a Licensed Practical Nurse here in Chicago, Illinois and have been since 2006. I did complete Practical Nursing Program at City Colleges of Chicago, at Truman College. Right now, I am in the process of finishing LPN-RN Bridge and the courses I took previously were all transferred aside from those that weren't transferrable as were not required under the school's (where I do the bridge) curriculum. As far as I know, courses that ought to be accepted or transferred into the nursing bridge would all depend on the school and state you're in. I also thought about going back to Pinas before right after I passed NCLEX but had changed plans when I found out that I could do the bridge in 1 year, and believe me, it's all worth it. Additionally, one of the reasons why I didn't study in Pinas for my BSN was due to the fact that even after I finished BSN there, I still am required to take Phil. Board before I could take NCLEX-RN, at least here in Illinois. In California however, Phil Board Exam is not at all required now, (I think). I could only say good luck and hope that you make the right decisions for yourself and the kids. Jay
  3. I am currently an LPN and would like to go for an RN, not planning to go straight to BSN, saw ADN on the Chamberlain's site but I think its only offered in OHIO?
  4. Yes, I took all my prerequesites (eng, math, soc, a&p, micro, psy, etc.) at CLC, but I got tired of waiting to get into the RN Program so I left the College 3 yrs ago and went in for a Practical Nursing. A lot had changed at CLC since I left ha.. Thanks.
  5. Thanks. Do you know where your friend went for her RN? I have not been able to inquire at CLC since I became an LPN 2 yrs ago.
  6. Question. I'm currently a Licensed Practical Nurse here in the state of Illinois, employed and residing in Lake County, IL. Would like to pursue RN Program at CLC, how do I go about starting the program? I attended the Info Sessions last two yrs ago. Do I still have to take NLN given that am already an LPN? Thank you.

Currently an LPN, live and work in Lake County, IL. Would like to go for an RN, wondering how and where I can go for it in the Lake/Cook County area.... help!
  8. illinois does not either. application instructions for licensure specifically exclude excelsior college: [color=#292526] note: [color=#292526]excelsior college a/k/a/ the university of the state of new york regents external degree program is an unapproved nursing education program in the state of illinois due to the fact that it does not have concurrent theory and clinical components as required by the illinois nurse practice act. therefore, it is considered to be a correspondence course which is identified by the act as not meeting the requirements for licensure.
  9. Thanks! Would State of Illinois allow me to sit for NCLEX-RN and have a license in the state if I do distance learning? I know Excelsior is not acceptable by my state.
  10. Is it possible to do LPN to RN program online as well? What about the Clinical portion?
  11. The scores were 2 years old, and don't know if CLC Nursing Admission would still re-consider them if they've been that old. I think that these scores are only good for a matter of one year. At this time, I am no longer interested in applying at CLC anymore since I am now an LPN and working as a Rehab Nurse. I'd prefer to do LPN to BSN and do it online rather than sit in a class and not be able to work full time. I think that it's not going to work out for me if I'd sit in school and work full time, and I can't afford to not be able to work 40 hours a week now. Thank you for the advice. Good luck to you!
  12. I applied in 2005 and 2006, I heard from the Nursing Dep't that the highest score then was 99%, I was really surprised how in the world can someone get that kind of score in the test, well I guess some of these students have been taking NLN multiple times, like a friend of mine that I met after I left the College, she took NLN 6 times and waited until she got accepted. I was told that if you're to retake NLN, some of questions are being repeated? I applied at Harper with the same NLN scores and they sent me a letter that I am out of District and that they prioritize in-district students. Again, no luck. I am now in the process of taking care of the paperworks needed for a University transfer (LPN to BSN), and prefer to do online classes and hope to start soon. Good luck to both of us!
  13. I live in Lake County and am in district of CLC. The Pre-RN Admission Exam (NLN) was the reason why I left the College, I had taken the NLN exam twice, and the first time I took it I got 90%, and second was 88% and was still not accepted in the program. Not to say I am also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and received commendation certificates from the College for having been placed in the College Honor list twice in a row. College of Lake County does not consider your academic performance for admission, unlike Harper College and others. I waited for almost two years, and got tired of it, so I applied at this LPN program in the Chicago area school. I finished the program, and passed NCLEX-PN. I now hold a license as an LPN and currently working as a Rehab/Medicare Nurse. Consider your other options and don't be stuck with CLC Pre-RN Admission exam forever. It is easier to do LPN-RN Bridge so you can work and earn big bucks while pursuing RN degree, Good luck!
  14. I am not sure about jobs in TX, MT, or CO, but I am sure that LPN jobs here in Illinois (Chicagoland) are plenty in Long Term Care, Assisted Living and even hospitals in the Chicago area. I had a couple of job interviews last week (2 days after knowing I passed NCLEX-PN), and both DON/HR are hiring me on the spot, but of course I had to choose which one is better, and being an LPN you always have the pleasure to choose between employers. I chose to become an LPN first because I know that I can earn a better income while furthering my nursing education. Good luck to you!
  15. Hey, don't worry now. They say that if you have more than 10 Check all that apply type of questions, that means you have been answering most of the questions correctly! I took NCLEX-PN test last two weeks ago and I did have more than 20 Check all that Apply and passed it. According to the people at the Review Center in Chicago where I attended review for my NCLEX-PN, some questions may be repeated and the computer is just trying to determine if you really knew the material or wild guessing, like in my exam - I was asked Celiac Disease twice, same question but different options to choose from, there was also questions on Bumex medication, and that came up twice but in different format (1 Check all that Apply, and another multiple choice), also the question did not give me the generic name of the med which should be easier to remember, I had so many drugs and was asked how to know if the Tx regimen was effective if the pt is taking such drug, etc. I also had about 4 math problems, and two of them were similar. Celebrate today coz I know you passed the test!! Congratulations to you! Cheers!
