Im a mom of 2 and currently have my LVN license. Will having my LVN help me at all when enrolling? I also wanted to know what days and hours you guys attend. Since I have kids and a full time job I want to see how I can manage that and go to school. Any advice is very helpful and appreciated. I’m currently studying for my HESI. ??
Hi! Good luck studying for your HESI, I’m sure you will do great!! Thank you for the congrats.
When I applied, I was told they don’t look at past health care experience during the decision process. I am a medical assistant and that didn’t help out much. They are mainly looking for a high GPA in your college classes like the pre requisites, or the courses you took for your LVN. Also, another main factor is your HESI score!! The higher the better so just make sure you are super prepared :)! However, I believe if you’re and LVN, you can transfer some credits in if you take a proficiency test(don’t quote me on this I’m not 100% sure)
The days and times differ each session. It’s a full time day program and the schedule isn’t set in stone. For example, One session you may be there only 2 days a week, where as another session you may be there 4 days a week plus a clinical day. It really just depends on the classes you’re taking at that time.
I have met people that work part time during the program! As long as your boss is super flexible I don’t think you should have any issues. The school may recommend you don’t work full time just because the program is really demanding from what I’ve heard from current students/ graduates.
If anyone is curious I got in with an overall 3.3GPA, 4.00 science GPA and 91% HESI. Also had a typo in my passion statement. However, I denied my spot because I got into Delta College in Stockton which is way cheaper.
HESI wasn’t bad at all. Way easier than TEAS. Make sure you know military time.

If you have LVN you should absolutely look into local community colleges. If I remember correctly it only takes one year to become an RN. Chamberlain gives you a few unit credits towards BSN but it’s a drop in the ocean. They are for profit school and transferred only 54 of my 120+ units. You really don’t win much by doing this accelerated program when they make you take all those GE classes.
My sister in law went to ARC for her ADN and now doing her bachelors online through Phoenix, it’s taking her 11 months or something like that from ADN fo BSN and cost is like 12k.
You did a lot for that LVN, don’t let it go to waste! All community colleges in the area give you extra points on your application if you have CNA/LVN license.

I’m going to ARC to get more information. Thank you for helping me look at other options, before entering the program and regretting it later. You are absolutely awesome! Thank you!

You should absolutely look into all local community colleges most ADN programs cost $6,000 without any financial aid. If you have good grades and good TEAS score you should be able to get in!
Hey future classmates!! This thread has been dead for a while but I just thought I’d post and say school is just around the corner and orientation is even closer! I would love to connect with you guys at orientation!
also, I just paid for classes. My cal grant hasn’t got through yet so I paid the remainder.. I’m guessing I’ll get a little refund once cal grant goes through but I had some left to pay that pell grant and my loans didn’t cover. Anyone else apply for pell grant.. if so has it gone through? I know it was approved by the school because I had to send in a form.
Hey hey! It’s super late (I’m up doing Micro lab reports........ ?) but I can’t believe school is starting in like two weeks.... what the heck!
I’m sure we will be meeting at the info sesh! Did you get your schedule yet for sept??? I got mine but it’s not updated with my completed courses so I only know of two that I’ll for sure be in - ethics and NR-103-0.
And about the grants — I have no clue about them. Sorry I couldn’t be more help! I’m sure if you contact the school someone could guide you in the right direction!
Dani ☺️
