You are reading page 6 of Chamberlain College of Nursing - Addison. If you want to start from the beginning Go to First Page.

The school combines courses such as chem and bio - so likely you will have to take Bio-chem like the rest of us. When it comes to the science courses they really want them done their way.

don't listen to that other poster! Some students are irritated that everything isn't spelled out on the study guides word for word! Big deal! We are all grown and college has a level of expectancy to read your text book. (Shock!) It's medicine - not humanities - study like a good student and you will be fine - go like lazy lucy - and yeah - you will probably struggle.

As I mentioned before -I did not have to take an entrance exam. I'm not sure about the exam - actually know nothing about it. Good luck! I'm sure you will do well! I would think it would be basic - maybe freshman college level expectation of knowledge? How's your entrance exam or highschool transcripts?

Hi there,

Took the HESI A2, got a 92.2% and have a BA with a 3.28%. Got accepted. Problem is they picked apart my degree and did not accept classes I took. They want me to pay the $550 per credit hour to take them again there, it came to an EXTRA $20,000. They look at the description of the class you took in college and then a description of THEIR class. If it meets 80% the same, they take it. Funny, it's subjective enough not to take a ton of mine. Funny, other schools looked at the classes I took and don't have a problem with them. Anyone applying there, I would get an audit of classes you took to make sure that they won't be digging deep in your pockets too.

Good Luck!!!

I have been reading the various threads on Chamberlain College of Nursing.

I just graduated from the online RN-BSN Sunday. I am sooooooo pleased with the program. I am one proud and well educated graduate.

It is a top notch program. I can't attest to the onsite programs....but with the online program being excellent...I know you will not be disappointed.

Be prepared to work!!! But that is what it is all about. You are never alone because the professors and support staff are outstanding.

Plus they are CCNE accredited.

They have me so excited that I am looking forward to the world of graduate school now.

BSN RN 10/26/08!!:nurse::yeah:

Thank You so much as well for your insight into the school. I as well have just visited and liked the feel of the place and agree with the other blogger "thinking that it was to good to be true." I already have a bachelors degree but after loosing my job decided to go ahead and pursue my longtime dream of pursing a nursing degree so this will help immensly in my decision. Please keep your fingers crossed that I get in I have a cum gpa of 3.5 and I am now studying for Chamberlains HESI test to try to get back into the whole school thing because it has been a while for me plus I have three kids. Wish me luck!

I have a question regarding the A2 test. I had an interview at Chamberlain. I believe it went well. I gave them my transcripts. I have a 3.0 or a little above from my previous colleges. I was told that my high school transcript would not be used in determination. I have a BA. I passed the writing test online. My only question is the A2. I did fine on the English Comp, vocab, grammar, math. Not so well on the chemistry and A&P in the study guide. I bought other study guides and went to the library. I have always been a good test taker in the past but am not doing well. I have read most people scoring in the 80s-90s. Is that percentile? Or is that the individual score? I have been studying study guides, library books, text books, etc for about 7 hours per day. :banghead: I have a few days until the HESI A2 test. Is there anyone that can give me some help on what this test is like? I did hear it is computerized so I am unable to go back to a question if I have a problem with it. I am extremely nervous. I fell in love with this school and want to get in. Can anyone please help me feel a little more comfortable with the A2 test by giving me any information on it.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi

I am so glad to have found this website by chance and gotten your response. I met with an advisor at Chamberlain on last friday I believe May 1st 2009 and was told that I had to go to my HS and get my transcripts. I also have a BS degree and have taken most of the pre-reqs at a city college.

I also wanted to tell you not to worry to much about the intrance exam I was told that a lot of weight is put on issues such as the math and reading but not as much on the sciences because it is known that a lot of people are starting the school having not taken many of those science courses and still needing to take them plus science is not something that you "use" on an everyday basis without having already been a nurse/in the medical field so I was told that this is taken into consideration. While I was there I purchased the study guide for the test and am going to use that and schedule to take the test before trying for the winter program. I do have one question how long is the test the advisor told me it could be over three hours if I am not mistaken?

Thank you so much for your lengthy response! It helped me immensely. You addressed a lot of things that I had questions about. I received my first bachlors degree accelerated and loved the pace but it was not a science degree so I worried that this would be ten times worse.

But one of the things that got me through the first undergrad program was that we had an amazing support system and smaller class sizes. If you needed help on a particular subject they provided tutors. Chamberlain sounds like they do this as well it sounds like to me they provide any tools needed to help a student make it and that means a lot to me when you are trying to succeed.

I looked into Rush as well and they have an accelerated Masters nursing program and it was almost $60,000 plus you had to have taken the GRE if you had a GPA of 3.0 or under, write like three papers, and get three letters of recommendation. It seems as if with Chamberlain things are pretty straightforward and to the point of what needs to be done to get in.

As far as those speed bumps there are many in life and I am so glad to see that you have been hurterling them and getting throught the program. Congratulation for the fantastic job that you are doing. Hopefully I will see you there this winter.

Tif

I don't see there being a problem with your getting it that sounds like a pretty good score on the A2 Congrats and I believe the gpa req. is 2.75.

I wanted to ask you a question though, how bad was the A2? I am studying for it now to brush up on my science and math was it really longer than three hours?

Tiffany
