Thank you so much for your help that helps out a LOT! I did get the review book when I was at the school and have been looking it over I ordered a used kaplan nursing book and i have an old net book that I will be looking over. I hope you and I both get and I am sure that you will! Do you know what session you are going to start in? Let me know as soon as you hear something.

i have applied for the fall 09 semester so if everyhting worksout i should be on campus then...but yeah hope u do well on ur test as well and will be lookin forward to seeing u there

okay another question is to studens who are currently enrolled at the school or who have graduated already...how were u guys able to finance the school? were tehre any good scholarships or were strictly loans,,and if you guys took out loans do they have to be repayed before graduating or while in school

I am applying for loans and schoarships for the program because as you may well know there are no more grants awarded after you receive your first bachelors. Most loans are not paid back until about 6 months after graduating from school. The pre-reqs that I have I am paying for out of pocket which is why I am attending a 2 year college at this time because it is cheaper to take the classes there.

What was the board pass rate??? A lot of students??

Hi :)

I was wondering if anyone got into the program with their minimum GPA requirement (which is 2.75). I was just curious because mine isn't too hot right now and I want to see if Chamberlain accepted anyone with GPA below a 3.0 since nursing is so competitive.

Also, how long is the wait after you apply?

Hope to hear some feedback!

I had a 3.28 GPA with a bachelor's degree and a 92.2% on their HESI and they were happy to take me if I paid them an extra $20,000 to take classes I already took. I'm pretty sure it's pay to play. Good luck. I declined that wonderful offer. You might want to read ALL threads on this Chamberlain school on this forum and ask Josh a lot of questions before you pay to apply. If you have taken classes already, do they count? Thought mine did, but not the case. Check it out. It is nice to be accepted but if you want to be a nurse, you can be one anywhere, just work at it instead of throwing money at it.

My advisor showed me my evaluation, and it showed that I got credit for some classes while others did not match their requirements. Hopefully that doesn't change by the time I apply.

I got that evaluation too. I had to fight for interpersonal communications. I took a class called Interpersonal communications. I can't see how they would be the same (sarcastic) LOL. Well I won on that one and lost on the other $20,000 worth of classes I already took. It's lovely that they aren't the same by that 80%. Who decides if it is 80% or 79% of the class you already took? I think it's the people that collect the big money. LOL.

Oh, and the changes there are so major. You used to not have to take the HESI or any test. Just come one come all (with a checkbook) and you are IN. Now take the HESI which is super easy and they take everyone. Pretty soon they will have the waiting lists like everyone else. Was told that by an employee there. So change??? It will come.

If I just graduated high school and didn't have to re-take everything from my bachelor's degree I might go even though you can go somewhere where they don't charge that crazy money. I took the time to read every single post on every single Chamberlain thread here. There are a bunch. There are some from people who are there. The happy ones didn't have to re-take $20,000 worth of classes but some of the angry ones didn't either.

The best part of this forum is free speech. I can say what I want. Everyone else can too. Their just opinions. Of course there are some classes they aren't taking of yours. I bet you don't want to take them over again and pay for them again at the tune of $550.00 per credit hour. By the way, the rates are going up starting in July. There's another change.

The decision is yours but research this because it is a huge decision.

yea, I keep hearing about that "80%" thing and it's frustrating because what determines if the course is "80%" of theirs or whatever  I was told one of my science courses does not match theirs even though they are accepting my other classes, like micro, from that same school. If they didn't want to take it who did you contact? I don't want to waste my time and money on a class I already took.

how long have you been in their program, by the way? this is the only school I know that does not require prereqs which is what I like about it. and I also liek the fact that there are several sessions.

Hi,

I contacted the adviser, Josh. He told me to get the written description of the class and he will pass it along. That's how I got one class okayed. The rest I guess was just UNDER their little 80% deal. That's the reason I wanted to go there, the prereqs (science) I knew I had to take those but I took the rest when I got my BA. I just want to get in because once you are in, you're in. But not going to take classes over again, no way. I just couldn't see doing it. I certainly couldn't see paying for it AGAIN. I was accepted for the semester starting in July and turned them down. It sucked to do that because I liked what I saw but after they were trying to get all that $$ from me again and force me to sit through classes I took, no way. I am taking my science prereqs now and I will apply everywhere when I am done. I have talked to other schools that will take my classes so I don't have to take them again. If you want to be a nurse, you will become one. A good friend and school adviser told me that.

So get your school's catalog and type out the description and email it to Josh. He is not the decision maker, he just sends it along. I hope you classes count. No way could I spend that cash and sit through classes again. I was getting hosed.

Thanks, Lisa :) So far my adviser has been helpful...like I've done the description thing too...so she's doing the same thing Josh is. But if different advisers are able to get different people who decide what gets credit (assuming there's not just one person who decides), then it's worth a try if it means saving money and time. Is there a way to contact other advisers? and when did you apply for the July cohort? I'm curious on how long the wait would be.

I applied a few months ago, right after the cut off for the prior semester. It took awhile because I had to take the HESI and they needed my transcripts, even from high school. They didn't get my bachelors for an extra month because it was sitting there with my maiden name on it. LONG WAIT for them to get it together. Never had that happen before. I got into my BA program with a school with different professionals. I would try to see if you can get it changed, sure, but remember,if you have a different adviser, it doesn't matter because they make NO decisions. It is a Matrix that decides the 80% deal. Wonder how they decide if you get an 80% in a class. LOL. Sorry, it was just such a joke that if they changed their mind and didn't make me take 20K worth of classes again I would decline again. No way would I put myself through that. I will pay less than half for my 3 science classes and apply to all the colleges that won't pick my classes apart and decide I need to pay them money just for the opportunity to take it again. Like the first time was fun enough. LOL!!! But I would check and if you don't have 140 college credits, you won't be in the same place as me. If you don't have a lot for them to take away from you, go for it.
