Anyone know anything about this place?

The addison campus is very busy, we have over 300 students in our program! so the whole chamberlain team is working to get everyone where they need to be and ready for clinicals and graduation. i hope u all choose the addison campus b/c we have been cranking out grads every semester with no issues and our campus is recognized as an illinois acc. school while the chicago campus is still not on the US Dep. of Education. good luck to u all! =]

At one point, the Addison campus wasn't recognized either. Give it a chance. This location will establish itself just as the Addison campus did. Every Chamberlain location has the same curriculum and as long as its accredited then it really doesn't matter. Everyone is applying to the Addison location with a larger chance of not getting accepted because of the mass amount of applicants while people at the Chicago campus are applying and getting accepted and in the end its the same education and everyone will get the same recognition. The first graduates from the Addison campus did well and I'm confident that the first graduates from the Chicago campus will do just as well.

How do you know that for sure though? Maybe they just haven't gotten to our apps?

I am assuming, for sure. I thought based on a conversation I had with my advisor, I was told with my GPA, I would have been one of the first ones evaluated. At the same time, I previously registered for classes as my CC. Fall semester begins Aug 22nd, so I am on a time restraint too....I don't want to drop too late and lose the $ I already paid, but I don't want to drop the classes, not get in, and lose out on the classes I already registered for. I also applied at a 2yr ADN program, was unofficially accepted, but afraid to accept and then Chamberlain does call. I guess I am freakin since I haven't heard anything yet from Chamberlain :uhoh3: I think I will give it til next week and see what happens, then need to reevaluate my options!

Hello, i am trying to get into Chamberlain Addison campus but my GPA is too low. My grades weren't so hot during my first stint at college so i joined the military. I came back 2 years ago and have been taking my studies a lot seriously. Unfortunately my old GPA brings my overall GPA down. I tried to apply for academic amnesty from Elgin Community College (where i go) but they do not offer that. My overall GPA 2.67 and i am trying to get it up to 2. 75 . Will i be accepted or am i a lost cause?

also... If i finish all the transferable courses at my local CC. Will i still have to do the mandatory 7 minimum semesters before graduating? If so does that mean i would have to take some other random filler-courses?

It's hard to say if you would be accepted or not but they do look at the students with the higher gpa and Hesi test scores first so if you score high on the Hesi that will raise your chances but its not guaranteed that they would look at your high Hesi score over a high gpa. As far as a minimum of 7 semesters, to my knowledge its true because a lot of people tell me that they have to attend part time because they completed all the general education classes but you still have to follow their grid. I believe the actual nursing classes begins in the third semester so that would leave 7 semesters to be completed. Some people still like the fact that they are going part time because you have more time to focus on those particular classes. If I were you I would put my application off until next spring or summer and take a couple more general education classes to raise your gpa so you will have a better chance because if you apply now and don't get in you can't apply for another year. Hope I answered your questions. Also, you could always go in and talk to an advisor about it. They are always helpful and willing to give info to a potential student. Or you could email one of the advisors. Good luck in what you decide to do.

Hey everyone!!!

I have been accepted for the Fall (Oct. start) and I am SO excited. I have been trying to go to Chamberlain for the past 3 years...I get accepted but life always seems to happen :( I am a single mother of 3 so I have to work and their schedule doesn't always allow for that (which they tell you up front that school is first). But after 3 years of trying I finally feel like I have everything in place. I have a great night job and I'm ready to put in all of the hard work:) I know that it's going to be hard but all I can think about is how proud my family will be of me and being able to provide for my children.

I am busting at the seams because I can finally say I'M ON MY WAY TO BECOMING A NURSE!!!!! :)

So congrats to everyone else who got in...see you in October!!

P.S. Sometimes they still take applications after the deadline so if you haven't applied you may still have time just call and ask.

Hey everyone! I saw all the great advice that was given and thought I would join as well. I took the HESI exam yesterday at the Addison campus. I have a 3.10 gpa and scored an 85% on the HESI. Do you think I have a chance? I have dropped classes before do you think that would lower my chances of getting in? Should I retake the HESI exam? I saw on another post the committee is oging to meet on Aug 8th, I dont know if I should have my filed turned in or wait and retake the HESI i scored low in the sciences but high in all other areas.

Hi geenam...I think you should be good...I totally bombed on all of the science portions except A&P but I did not study either...I ended up with an over all score of 79% ugh...but I had a 3.8 gpa I think because you passed the HESI and your gpa is higher than what you required you should be good...but it's a personal decision you have to make...I took the HESI last fall for Chamberlain without studying and got the 79%. I took it this past spring for the ITT Tech nursing program (there is no science portion) and I studied and scored a 94%...go figure LOL!! Best of luck and keep us posted!! :)

Thank you for the help. I will do a little gen ed at Elgin first. I will take some of the pre-requisites so if/when i do get accepted i would only have to go part-time

You're welcome. That sounds good. Do your best to raise your gpa some and there is no doubt that you will get in once that is done. And you will probably do better in your nursing classes when you start because you won't have the extra stress of general ed classes. And if you work, you will be able to squeeze in a couple of work days If you have to. This is already an accelerated program. We all need to do what's best to set ourselves up for success even if it means we have to wait 1 or 2 semesters. I was going to apply for the summer start, but I decided to take another gen ed class over the summer and work and save some money for school. I believe that set me up for success because now I don't have to take as many student loans out, so less debt, and I knocked another class out of the way.

Congratulations! Even though I only have 1 child, I understand your struggles. Which campus are you going to?

Hi all!

Well...I got the call from my counselor today and i'm IN!! I am sooo excited to start in October at the Addison campus! I thought all hope was lost because it had been 5 weeks since I applied and I hadn't heard anything, but I was so excited when I got the call this morning!!! Anyone else starting in Oct @ Addison campus? Not only am I looking forward to the nursing school part, but I am also looking forward to making new nursing friends too :) :D

Good luck to anyone who is still waiting on a decision...and let me know if anyone else has recently gotten in!!
