Anyone know anything about this place?
Hi, thank you for your kind words. I really did not have good experience and thus good feeling about school, but just to let you know where I got my "conclusions":so my first hand experience was on the open day where the admission person was answering questions. One of them: what if I will not pass exam or my GPA is low, it is under 2.75. Well That admission lady answered, they will do it somehow, do not worry, what will decide is your interest :) Already there I should be careful. This is big NO NO.
Other student I know actually say openly - you just pay and you will get in.
Trust me I really believe that this program should be bashed... since it is just a factory for nurses. You can't get anywhere else? Come here... You have less then 2.75.. you get in [there is always some chance to work it out, right?}, you don't have any prereq. - no problem, and you failed in exam... do not worry, we make you nurse and we make you nurse quick... well after all, this is not a business school, this is medicine, and those "students" will be taking care of patients - life people. It is not a game. This is serious matter, so there should be some limitations for people who are capable and who are not to do that. Would you go to the doctor who just did his med. school in two years instead of four, and his Mcat completely sucked, he didn't have to have any chemistry classes or anything else - they would teach him that in that 2 years... sounds ridiculous, right?... I doubt that you would choose him as your doc. So why it should be ok, for nurses?
Other than this first hand was not possible, because school did not communicate and refused to let me speak with person above pretty rudely. So after my first hand experience I am left only with "second" hand experience of people who wrote on internet, students who were complaining, they even named teachers and said that those should not teach - literally. {Addison campus, IL, the very same campus were they treated me so profesionaly, - so it is admissions with teaching personal together - that would make a great place to study}
Or other post where lady from hospital says, that Chamberlain has actually very bad reputation because their students "sucks" in clinicals, since they don't really have hands on training - since Chamberlain is in more states, hard to determine where from. Oh, and this post is actually here on the allnurses.com
To the latest data - just 2 months ago there were only first and last graduates so far. And yes, Chambelain said they had 97%, which is not bad. School were I went for informative sessions brag about they have 98 and more. I didn't check how it changed now in two months, I should I guess, they maybe spit out some more new graduates meanwhile.
And the costs - I never said that this school is overly expensive, did I? I believe that is only assumption of you and other girls attacking the price. What I wrote: I am not so rich to waste 75 G. {Which is around the price any other school would cost}. Anyway I am really not so rich to waste 75 G on school, where not only me did have bad experience and I have serious doubts about.
And it is funny how every girl going there says the same lines: It is great school. I got job exactly where I wanted...sounds like they teach you to say that :) {who knows the reality of nursing jobs, seriously doubt that.}
Honestly I don't really care, cuz I will go to different school anyway, I just really think that anyone deciding should know all true and really think of what choice will make and have all information. Not only one side. And except of data, use common sence too.
Dexterosa,
I don't know about you, but I think it's best to leave well enough alone. WE GET IT ALREADY! Before I stop entertaining these comments any longer, we didn't attend a class that programmed each of us to talk about how nice of an experience we have had at Chamberlain. That's just silly of you to even insinuate such a thing. There's nothing "funny" (as you stated) that people have nice things to say about the school...it should let you know that there are REAL people here with REAL feedback about their time at this school. Since it is an anonymous forum, I have NO issue in talking about negative issues either.
We all make informed choices about the small and big decisions we face in life and that includes our choices in education. Not everything needs to be a battle or war of words as it appears you have taken some of our comments. In reality, I'm glad you found a school that better met your needs (it's a competitive world out there). As much as it may pain you, we may infact work together one day as RN's and neither of us would never know it (GASP!). Regardless of where you attend nursing school (as long as it's accredited)...it's those who work hard and give due diligence to their studies who evenutally sit for the NCLEX and pass (fingers crossed of course). Being a Chamberlain student doesn't make me or other students of this school any less of a student or person than you. And that's the bottom line.
Nonetheless, I wish you all the best! :)
Idk where you heard of 75 grand for Chamberlain, if you transfer in your credits u can knock off 2 yrs! Even if you knock off 1 yr its only gna cost u around 45 grand
Aggiexpooh, are you positive you can transfer enough credits to shave off 2 years? I was recently accepted, and I was told that you have to attend a minimum of 7 semesters no matter how many credits you have transfer over. They said that you have to follow their curriculum grid when you take classes so if you have credits towards a particular semester then you will just be part-time for that semester instead of taking another class in its place. So really you could have a lot of time shaved off but they are stretching it out. This info came from a Chamberlain representative from the Phoenix location so I will double check with someone from the Addison location. Hopefully Addison does things differently and will not be trying to "stretch out" my time there. :)
Thanks for asking that! I had been meaning to question that same thing-about transferring in credits and such. From what I was told when I spoke with and admissions rep was that you of course can transfer in certain credits, however, there is a flow to the program so it wouldn't take time off of the program, it would just lighten your load depending on the semester/section. Mind you, this was almost 2 years ago, which is why I'm VERY curious as to if things had changed (which would rock my socks off!)
Who knows this answer for sure? Spill it! :)
Dexterosa,
Chamberlain is definitely not just for the people who couldn't get into other schools. I got accepted into both UIC and North Park before I got accepted into Chamberlain. I chose Chamberlain because it is closer to my house and I like that it is small. I know someone who graduated from Chamberlain and she said in no way is it easier than other nursing schools. Actually, out of her four friends that graduated from nursing school she was the only one to pass the NCLEX on her first try. The other friends all went to UIC and Depaul.
Yes you can knocked off 2 years, you have to make sure your classes comply. I knocked off a year and a half with my transfer credits and have friends in my classes that needed only nursing classes to go..u have to make sure they comply with the school transfer guide and they will take them. There is no 7 semester requirement because I only needed about 5 when I started and there was no issues with that. I think what they mean is that for most of the nursing classes u cannot mix and match them around in the nursing program, you have to take them together at the same time in the same order. If all ur electives are done then some semesters will only be 2 nursing classes and part time until your degree.
Hi everyone am new here...I am freaking out because I applied to chamberlain( Chicago campus)for the summer....I have not received a response yet...has anyone else applied and have not received a response?Thanks in advance!
When did you apply? My friend applied at the end of May and they told her she got accepted about a week later. You should really call them. Registration for classes already started on June 6th and orientation is next week. If you got accepted you will need to fill out a bunch of papers, do your drug test, meet with the financial adviser, and register for classes. My friend's adviser told her that she was in the last batch of people being considered for the July term and she already got the phone call and letter notifying her of her acceptance. You should really call them. I hope you got in!
Hi littleone77.....thank you for the info....i applied June 1 and they told me my file couldn't go out on june 6th because the registers office took a little long ...they told me they would let me know this coming Monday and to be honest am scared lol...I had around a 2.9 gpa and an 84 on the hesi ....my original plan was to apply for october but got convinced for the july!!!

I understand what you are saying but if you felt that Chamberlain wasn't a great school and all they wanted was money and that they don't meet your standards, why did you even apply in the first place? And I was accepted to Saint Xavier University in Chicago so no, Chamberlain is not just for people who can't get in any other school.
