I think your military needs to rethink a few things when it comes to training.
It would be nice if we had that kind of power, but they don't exactly listen to us......

Yes, I must.
The addition of PN certification came about after many medics found their credentials weren't worth a lot on civvie street. By working with MP, the DND, and other agencies, a workable solution was reached. Serve as a medic, leave as a PN, OR Tech, Ortho Tech or any combo thereof.
No point in leaving the service of your country with a trade that is not recognized by a civilian employer.

That definately sounds like a better system Fiona, There are quite a few admirable systems in place in Canada on many fronts.
(Of course this doesn't help to advice the American based original poster in the here and now. :))

Two of our instructors in school were ex-military Corpsmen (American) they not only had their teaching gigs but had GREAT civilian jobs at the VA. I have yet to see any job posting specify what you you to do to get to SIT for liscensure..

you're absolutely right, i left the service for a better opportunity in the "civilian world"; however, i'm on the same boat as the original poster... i'm a former usaf medic, anyways here's some info that may be helpful... it's dissapointing to find out that the civilian sector doesn't recognize all the training/experience we have...
this is an e-mail i received from a friend who's still in the service... i'm assuming this will only work if you live in the northeast...
