Hi,

I am very confused about the process of Credential Verification Service (CVS) for New York State.

I graduated from a nursing school in Philippines . But I have neither written the nursing board exam nor registered as a nurse anywhere in the world.

Currently, I am in New York and I need to go through the Credential verification process using the CGFNS CVS service.

However, as a part of credential verification process, CGFNS apparently requires information about my initial nursing license (which I don't have).. I am very confused at this point.. :(

How can I get through the CVS process without having initial nursing license ?

Please kindly suggest me !!!

hi there, what an all documents did u submit to NYSED other than infection control and child abuse......................if submitted online is there need of notarization????? ma cvs-ny is about to finish and need to contact nysed soon.......ua help will be appreciated:)

No need! I sent my application by mail last year. I didn't notarize it. And I pass my NCLEX-RN exams 2 weeks ago. Best of luck!

I completely submitted my CGFNS CVS forms Oct 4, 2016 and CGFNS sent me notification of completed application Nov 7, 2016. On Jan 20, 2017 they sent me a notice that they received my school documents. PRC never sent my license verification and on June 15, 2017 they submitted report to NYSED. I submitted my Application for Licensure to NYSED last year around Nov or Dec and until now they haven't cashed my $143 check for the fee.

Does anyone know how long does it take to hear from NYSED after CGFNS forwards the CVS report?

Is anyone going through the same process? Please email me at [email protected].

I am planning to quit my job soon so I can seriously review for the NCLEX. I just hope they won't require the PRC license verification or else it will further set back the process. *sigh* It is expensive to live here in NY. We need to work as nurses already.

icebryker, i sent you an email. we're in the same situation.

I'll answer you both since I remember the confusion/helplessness/questions/etc..

so here's where you're at.. CGFNS-CVS forwarded whatever documents they've collected to the NYBON. What happens now?

- NYBON reviews said documents and decides if you're qualified to take the NCLEX..

- if they haven't cashed in your $143 fee? I highly suggest calling them to see what's going on with your NY BON Application.. I did the cgfns-cvs and ny bon application around the same time and my wife's application was processed/cashed/etc without waiting for the cgfns-cvs

- IF YOU ARE A PHILIPPINES NURSE.. PRC is notorious for not sending documents.. so you WILL BE DELAYED FURTHER. Why? The NY BON will ask you to get the documents and send to them..

anyhows you're at the end of the process so it's good..

it's bad because the ny bon will most probably need the prc documents which they will let you know when they contact you after reviewing your case

but like i said, don't wait for that.. contact them and make sure they do have your ny bon application/why didn't they cash the application fee yet/etc..

call them to ease your mind

Per my experience, NYSED will continue what CGFNS has not finished. They will send you 2 (two) verification forms that you are going to sign and afterwards, you will send to your school and the PRC. These two (2) institutions will then send back the verified forms back to NYSED.

As a background, PRC did not respond to the verification made by CGFNS, but my school did. CGFNS, after the time frame of 180 days given to them to do the verification process, they will endorse to NYSED whatever document or output they have. That's it, they endorsed my papers without PRC response.

I suggest that you go to PRC website. They have there information regarding verification procedures including fees for nurses who want to get licensure abroad. What i did was, i asked somebody in the Philippines to personally hand the verification form for PRC and pay the required fees and the mailing expenses that PRC will spend in sending back the form to NYSED.

By now, i already got the approval of my licensure application from NYSED. You may do the same. I encourage you that you start reviewing now for the nclex while waiting. God bless you

Actually, I have the same problem that you had at that time. whould you please help me on this issue? It is about 3 months that CGFNS has sent the request letter to my school, but my school has not recieved any letter.
