I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CERVICAL DYSPLASIA (LESIONS) AT MY FIRST PAP WHEN I WAS ABOUT 16. I WAS NOT WITH ANYONE UNTIL I WAS 18 AND MARRIED THAT MAN 6MONTHS AFTER WE MET, HE IS THE ONLY MAN EVER BEEN WITH. THE DR DID A COLPOSCOPY AND BIOPSY AFTER ALL WAS CLEAR. THE FOLLOWING YR HAD ANOTHER COLPOSCOPY AND BIOPSY NO LESIONS BUT BLOOD VESSELS WERE ENLARED. ALL PAPS SINCE HAVE BEEN NORMAL. HAD LAPOROSCOPY AND D&C IN NOV. OF 2003. DIAGNOSED WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS AND HAD POLYPS REMOVED FROM UTERUS. PERIOD BECAME REGULAR AND PAIN SUBSIDED SOME. AROUND MARCH OF THIS YR I BEGAN TO NOTICE AN INCREASE IN DISCHARGE, INTERMITTENT ODOR, AND JUST AFTER MY PERIOD I WOULD HAVE SOME IRRITATION SIMILAR TO A YEAST INFECTION BUT WITHOUT THE COTTAGE CHEESE DISCHARGE. THE IRRITATION WOULD GO AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS ALL ON ITS OWN. THEN I MISSED A PERIOD SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE. I WENT TO THE DR SHE FOUND NOTHING. SINCE MY PERIODS HAVE BECOME VERY HEAVY AND LONG(9-15DAYS) THIS MONTH I HAVE NOT HAD ONE. ALSO NOTICED AN AWFUL ODOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO THAT LASTED A DAY OR 2 THEN WENT AWAY HAVE HAD THIS ODOR A FEW TIMES ALWAYS GOES AWAY ON ITS OWN. NO SPOTTING BETWEEN PERIODS. LAST MONTH PAIN ON CERVIX THAT WENT INTO ABDOMINAL CRAMP WHEN INSERTING TAMPON NO OTHER CERVIX PAIN. THIS MONTH I HAD 2 DAYS I SPOTTED BROWN ABOUT 4 SPOTS EACH DAY. I ALSO FELT MY CERVIX AND ON THE SIDE AND BACK AND SOME IN THE CENTER AROUND THE OS I CAN FEEL A HARD, SOMEWHAT ROUGH AREA THE REST OF THE CERVIX FEELS SOFT AND SMOOTH. I HAVE ALSO BEEN HAVING ALOT OF LOW BACK ACHE AND IT SEEMS AS IF I LEAK A FEW DROPS OF URINE AT NIGHT SOMETIMES ALONG WITH URGENCY AND FREQUENCY.

I THINK THAT IS ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS AND I AM SORRY FOR IT BEING SO LONG BUT HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS AND IF SO WHAT WAS WRONG? WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF CERVICAL CANCER? I CALLED AND SCHEDULED AN APPT FOR THURSDAY BUT AM A LITTLE WORRIED. ACCORDING TO THE DRS OFFICE MY LAST PAP WAS IN AUG OF 2003 THOUGH I COULD HAVE SWORN I HAD ONE SINCE. PLEASE ANYONE GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:uhoh21: :uhoh3:

WOW I am so sorry for all your worry, really I am.

But I have to remind you: Please observe this site does not allow the exchange/solicitation of medical advice of any sort. It's strictly forbidden by Terms of Service. Really it's best to get advice from a qualified health care professional who knows you and your history well.

I urge you to seek medical advice you trust. That could mean you go to more than one physician for opinions and suggestions/tx. 2nd opinions can be reassuring.

Truly, I wish you good news and better health. Please let us know how you are doing.

I know how scared you I went through the same scare last year. It wasn't cancer but fibroid tumors. I did have to have a hysterectomy but things worked out well. Good luck to you. A lot of things can cause those symptoms you are doing the right thing by going to the Dr.

I Am Sorry Smilingblueyes I Was Not Intending To Get Any Medical Advice. I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Had Ever Had Similar Symptoms Or If I Am Just A Reproductive Freak Ha! Ha! I Thought A Much Earlier Thread About Cervical Cancer Was Similar Just Less Symptom Detail So I Thought It Was Okay. Again I Am Sorry If This Was Wrong To Ask.

No it's ok. We get questions like this all the time. It's just a gray area, here. If you are simply asking if anyone else had symptoms like this that is ok. Asking their opinion of what this can be, falls into the realm of asking for medical advice, which we cannot do here. I hope you understand. Again, I wish you the best.

So sorry you are going through this. Please keep your appointment with the doctor. And tell him/her everything that you told us. And if that doctor dosen't find anything, get a second opinion. Please keep us posted.

Just an update. I went to the Dr. on Dec. 22. I saw the nurse practitioner because the Dr. was out on medical leave. She started by blasting me for having not come back for so long (last appt was April) and still having the same problems. I told her I had alot going on and was unable to, however, that was only part of it the rest was the fact that the last time I came my symptoms were brushed off as being nothing important and she didnt find anything except possible a small cyst on the lt ovary and she didnt feel that was anything to worry about. She said to come in for an ultrasound and she would take a look but didnt expect to find anything really. So I didnt bother. The problems were not so bad I couldnt tolerate them so why make her richer for nothing. Anyway this time I was blasted for not coming back and told I shouldnt worry about cancer because I am young and no strong history (her opinion because I have about 15 or 20 people with various cancers in family history in the past 2 generations on moms side). Anyway, she would not take a urine sample because she said I didnt have any real symptoms to require that (told her I had frequency and urgency and burning occasionally). She finally agreed to do a pap, and she ordered blood work (to ck thyroid and hormones this test came back fine). Pap results not in yet but said she only saw one small cyst on cervix. Ordered an ultrasound but said "in a wk or 2 there isnt any hurry after all you waited this long to come in so a few more days shouldnt matter to you". Since this appt I spotted light pink for 5 days when I wiped thats the only thing resembling a period since early Nov. I had recieved a brochure from ACS and while reading found ovarian cancer. I always thought there were no symptoms, well there are and I have almost all of them: back ache, bloating, gas and acid indigestion(popping gasx and zantac like candy for 8months), urinary urgency & frequency & sometimes burning (take uristat sometimes for it), cramping and sharp pain in pelvic area, pain that runs from lft pelvic into leg, missed periods and heavy, long periods, presure in pelvic area, and discharge. When the office called with lab results I asked if they did CA125 they did not and she acted as if I were stupid for asking after all why would I need that done that was for cancer. I just dont understand why doctors and nurses have to act that way. I obviously do not complain over little nothings otherwise I would have gone back immediatley for the first US but I felt I could wait since she didnt feel concered. Then Im made to feel stupid for not having done back in April. Had I known all of these other things , which I have just considered little annoyances, could be signs of ovarian cancer I would have had it ck then. I pray that I will always remember what its like to be the pt. and when I become an RN I will treat pts the way I would want to be treated and not as I have been. I also hope that everyone else who is a future RN or is currently an RN will also try to remember this. Hopefully it will be a little nothing that is found wrong with me but if it is cancer it could have been caught much sooner if the medical staff would have listened and been kind and thorough in my care instead of simply re-cking the same thyroid and hormone test again and brushing me of as an overweight (favorite excuse for most symptoms) hypochondriac.

Sorry this was so long but I needed to get that of my chest. I feel a little better now and hopefully will feel even better when I can get some answers. Next appt for us is on Jan 18 2006. So much for a few day not making a difference I wonder if a few wks will?

Please feel free to email me with any personal thoughts on this subject!

Perhaps you should see another provider for a second opinion.

I agree! Go to someone else! I was constantly ignored and brushed off when I was having very, very odd things going on with my pregnancy. I told them time and time again that I knew something wasn't right. I was denied an amnio I requested, treated like a fool when I went in with symptoms I knew were not right and nobody would listen to me. They were told to watch my amniotic fluid levels by a specialist and instead they kept telling me my son was going to be born with only 50% of his leg length and that I had diabetes. (Which the same specialist said was a complete joke-that none of my glucose levels had even gone over..the first one was just close)

In the end he was 6 weeks early, legs were fine but I had a terrible infection and my son was born with it. He is 9 months now and we just got the infection cleared up and he is behind with speech and some other things because he just didn't feel good for so long and couldn't hear at all with plugged ears. I also saw on a paper that went down with him for a hearing test this month-that my pregnancy was complicated with polyhydrominos (sp?) I have no idea what that is-but nobody ever told me.

Anyway-I was stuck with them because 1)Insurance and 2)Nobody wanted to take me on so late with so many issues. Don't let that happen to you! I could never be comfortable with them or anything they told me ever again. I would doubt everything. So please go find someone else and make sure that you are comfortable and secure with them! That is so important! You know your body better than anybody else and you need to find someone that understands and respects that! I still feel very guilty about my son. I always feel like I failed him by not fighting harder and I should of searched all over the state for someone else who would take me and my insurance.

Sorry to ramble-but know you are not alone! It is a terrible feeling to have them treat you like this. I wish you the absolute best of luck with everything! Please keep us posted!

I agree with everyone else. Find a new provider that is willing to listen to your concerns and do something about them. Don't put this off. Find someone new. Be persistent. This is your health you are talking about.
