no certificate after passing NCLEX for California?/SSN---for endorsement&visa screen

hey there, ive read lots of posts about this subject and i have the same dilemma: SSN number to obtain license in california. (Filipino nurse who just passed the NCLEX as well) uhmm, so i was thinking of the endorsement process... to NY. its just that they require me to state there in their forms a license/certificate/registration number.. what is it that i could possibly use because what I only have is the file number written in the notification letter that I passed the NCLEX.

Likewise, visa screen requires the same thing --a registration/certificate number... and its really driving me crazy.. i dont know what to do.

I am aware that if ever i want my documents be processed for endorsement, i should pay $60 dollars. It's just that I cannot submit my documents since i cannot complete their application forms... be it for the NY state or the CVS or the Visa Screen.

Need your help!

thank you so much!

Do you have a job offer for NY as we are see postings of people struggling to find employers for foreign trained nurses to petition. If not then I would not worry about CVS but if you are wanting then you need to apply via application for licensure and arrange Ca to forward your NCLEX results to NY. Ca can send your pass result for VSC and in fact many foreign nurses have done so. I suggest a good read in this forum especially on threads for Ca and retrogression

then without a license or certificate number with me, what should i write when i request the Ca BRN to forward my results to NY when the form asks for a certificate/registration/license number? should i just leave it BLANK? and they can deal with my application only with my name?

this is what's bothering me... the Registration number...

thank you!

then if i will apply for endorsement, what should i write in the form that asks for a certificate/registration number? IS it okay if I leave it BLANK instead?

cause this is what i need.. the number...

thank you!

I second what SD102 just said. What is your reason for endorsing to NY?

Is that really where you want to live and work or is just because you want a license?

It is not that easy to find work in a hospital in NY State. Most available jobs in NY State are in the Long-Term and Hospice areas. And you have to go through CVS for NY, no matter what regardless if already licensed in a US State or not.

Also, you do not need the hard-license to start the petition process if that is one of your concerns. Only proof of passing NCLEX or CGFNS exam is needed. So, there is no advantage if you have a hard license or not and most States that gives hard licenses w/o a US SSN will require one to renew it anyway and most licenses for foreign nurses expires in a much shorter period (usu. less than 1 year) and most cannot renew it for the lacking US SSN.

well i intend to work in NY...

we know of someone form a health care agency that could help me with the employment.. its just that i was informed that i should first file an endorsement to NY state and also the CVS (NY) and the visa screen...

(i have not gotten the chance to talk to that person yet so im seeking help in this forum)

id just like to confirm that the notification that i passed the NCLEX cannot be considered as a certification, right?

so maybe, i should just leave the item that asks for the certification/registration number BLANK.

Is that alright?

What Form are you pertaining to that is requesting your certification or license number? NY has no Licensure By Endorsement Application Form per se unlike most Boards. All foreign-educated nurses goes through CVS for NY, regardless if one is licensed in a US State already or not.

here they go..

for NYS endorsement:

http://www.op.nysed.gov/nurse1.pdf

Item NO. 18: Do you now hold, or have you ever held, a license or certificate to practice any profession* in any jurisdiction?

This means il tick NO, right? (even if i pass the nclex? i just wanted to be sure)

for Visa Screen

http://www.cgfns.com/files/pdf/apps/2008%20VS%20Handbook.pdf

Request forValidation of Registration/License For VisaScreen®

The registration/license was issued under the name of: _____

Should I write my name in this item? (i dont have a registration/license number)

same goes with:

for Credentials verification NY

http://www.cgfns.com/files/pdf/apps/2008%20CVS%20Handbook.pdf

so what do you think? leave it blank?

cause:

I dont have i license

I dont a certificate

I dont have a registration account?

(Dont you think the FILE number will do as a registration number? The file number is written in every mail i receive from CA BRN)

thank you.

ICHP for VSC are aware that some states will not issue a license without SSN you just need to arrange with Ca to forward your pass results for VSC

Leave it blank. The applicant never writes their Registration/License number on their own. It is the Registration/Licensing Body that's suppose to write that and then counter-signed.

Same goes with when you give that License Verification Form for Visa Screen to PRC to validate your Phil. License. You only write your name and biographics and let the Staff from PRC write your license number and then he counter-signs it after it was dry-sealed and all fees paid for by you. It is then sent by mail directly from PRC in airmail or DHL (extra fee).

In the CVS, you don't have to do anything. It is them that actually sends the request to all Licensing Bodies for you (including PRC), however, this is where all the logistic delays comes from and so many just apply for the VSC at the same time as with the CVS, so that they can manually do it on their own. This may sound redundant but it is quicker because they do not want to wait for the request coming from the CVS part, w/c can take months.

Also, if you want to do it smart. I would hold off applying for CVS for NY or endorsing to them. I would start the Visa Screen Certification if you have all the req'ts already though. No problem with VSC.

I don't see the point on applying for CVS for NY this early. First of all, if the agency is serious and if they really have something lined-up for you, they can actually start the petitioning process with just your copy of passing NCLEX that you got from CA BRN. You can always tell them that you will do the CVS process as soon as they file the petition for you (and if they can give you solid proof that they did file it). Some even wait until their I-140 was actually approved to be sure. If they are not going to start the petitioning process for you until you apply for CVS, then I suggest you go ahead and look for other agencies. Many will start the process as soon as possible as long as you passed the NCLEX and/or CGFNS exam. It does not matter if you are licensed in another State, you can always do the endorsement process to follow and there is plenty of time to do that as the whole immigration process is quite long.

all right, thank you so much!

i'd think about that...bout your suggestion.

thank you again sir lawrence! :)
