Hi guy!!
anyone applying this month for admissions into Fall 2013?
i'm attending the nursing application workshop this week to apply.
did you guys take developmental psychology before you applied?
i have taken pscyhology 101 at a different college, can that count as an alternate?
Thank you so much for your feedback Jeli42!! I'm late 20's so my age is kind of a factor but not too much. I just want to hurry up and start since I've waited already a year to get into school and start working towards my profession. I keep thinking is 6 months really worth it to go to a better shool? Good luck to you also!! Hopefully you will get in!
What was your decision? Would love to know what school you chose :)
I chose to wait it out and go to Cerritos :) It had mor e pros than Rio for me. Good things come to those that wait is what I always hear lol I'm confident with my decision and cannot wait till the Spring starts!!
Good for you! I'm now in the same predicament. I'm in Rio Hondo but an alternate for Cerritos. Lol. I think I'm gonna choose Rio Hondo though since its only 7 miles away from my house. All my RN friends (I have a dozen) say that NLNAC doesn't matter especially in California. I've also contacted CSULB, CSUF and Asuza and they all said WASC accreditation is what counted when applying for the BSN. Good luck to you!
Yes, it's not worth to wait, I am a retired RN after 30 years, I graduated from San Joaquin Delta College ADN program in 1984, Delta is NLN accredited, my daughter got into Rio Hondo for Fall 2013, as far as I know, Rio did not pay for the NLN accreditation, when I called Cal State Fullerton regarding to their BSN and MSN program, they told me that WASC is what it counted if consider their program from RN-BSN, Cal State Fullerton is NLN accredited. Goods luck to everyone!
Can't wait to meet your daughter! I'm also starting Summer 2013. Glad to hear another RN clearing up that WASC and NOT NLNAC is what matters when applying for the BSN. I think so many people get accreditations confused and people get misinformed. Funny thing is most of the people who give out misinformation are STUDENTS and not nurses.

One more comment, when I check out the RN board passing rate for Rio Hondo, it's 95-100%, so Rio is just as good as any other NLN accredited school, don't get me wrong, NLN accredited is paramount for BSN and MSN, but not for ADN, hope that helps
