Where is everyone???

Where are the Central Florida students in this FORUM?

Where are you studying? And when did you start/ or will start?

I'm in Orlando and anxiously waiting for my Nursing Program to begin in late August at Florida Hospital Colege.

hey luv4nursing,

Sorry i took so long to respond real busy w/ work & moving:uhoh21: Well i'm fine as a tech at Fl. hosp. sometimes i get really frustrated with all the work i have to do...but thank goodness i work with a really great staff and they reassure me when i have my doubts that i will be a good RN. I also inquired about them hiring new LPN's and so far they are not...one LPN i spoke with worked at an Asst. living facility for 6mons then got hired on board on the med/surg floor.

Happy Holidays

Hello everyone :)

Waiting on the NET at Keiser here in Melbourne. They only take the top 40 for interviews and the top 20 of those get it, so keeping my fingers crossed. Trying to keep up a PMA (positive mental attitude) and am practically oozing obnoxiousness, just knowing i will be the smartest one there, so it won't be a problem!! :rotfl:

If anyone else has attended Keiser, let me know how you liked it!

was a bit worried to find out they don't have the nlnac accreditation. :crying2: paying a lot to go there!

I'm in day #3 of the LPN program. Thus far, it's ok... a little disorganized. Lots of whining by the other students (how many tests, how many questions) and lots of repetition. Core is mostly self-taught/independent studies. :(

So how is everyone else fairing? Is LPN school everything you thought it would be? Me, I'm a little disappointed at the pace. Hopefully it will get a little more exciting. And if all else fails..... I can survive anything for 18 months (I hope).

Looking forward to hearing from other new LPN students!

Best to you all!

hi everyone

i'm about to start my 2nd semester of nursing school in two weeks at florida hospital college.

i can't believe that i've already made it through my 1st semester! i had a tough summer and it was well worth it! nursing school is everything i expected it to be... lots of hard work and lots of fun! :nurse:

Hello everyone, Im a student at Central Florida College. I'm doing the Medical Assisting program currently, and hoping to move on to RN!! I was just wondering what schools in the orlando area, or florida in general are good schools, or schools that offer RN.

Thanks so much for your input!!

hey whitney how are you doing? Congrats to you getting ready to soon graduate as a medical assistant! I know you are excited:lol2: Well, there are a good few schools here in Orlando if you haven't already found out. The top of the line from one what I hear are Valencia and Seminole Community College. I know for a fact that Valencia nursing graduates are sought after and are seen as some of the best trained. I know a few people in the program, and they love it, but they sure do have to work for it. I was going to do the AS program there, but I had a few set backs since 2002 when i graduated from High school, and by the time i finished my pre-reqs, the wait list was a year. So, i took some more classes toward my AA ( i want to go for my Bachelor's), got 6 months into an LPN program, but I had a situation with that and did not finish. Now, i am in my last semester at VCC for my AA and have applied to 4 university nursing schools for Fall 2007. The whole point of me saying all of that is because i read your other post about what path you should take. It all depends on you. I made a great friend in the LPN program that i was in and she worked as a medical assistant on the weekends while she was in the program, and now taking pre-reqs for the nursing program at VCC and she's doing great. There's also Florida Hospital College, which is really good, but alittle pricey. You are pretty much guaranteed a job, but what nurse isn't? Another school is Americare, but i do not recommend them! Their Lpn program alone is $16k!!! So that tells you about the RN and I had they are not fully accredited. Anyways, sorry to talk your ears off, but i hope i was some help for you. Don't be afraid to ask me anything and i hope to keep in contact with you!

Hey Everyone. Im Christopher, located in Ocala, currently taking pre req's at CFCC, and on the waiting list to get into a program. Very discouraged, because CFCC just changed their criteria, and the wait list extend until the end of 2008, beginning of 2009. No other schools in the area except Webster College, and the cost of that program is upwards of $27,000. So here I wait. Hows everyone doing?

Hi Christopher,

That is an awfully long time to wait. I feel your pain.

I am just getting started here in Orlando and trying to figure out where to enroll. I already have a bachelor's degree in English but due to my full time working schedule as a teacher, I need to find a program where I can take classes on nights, weekends and summer vacation. I am probably going to apply for an evening LPN program at Orlando Tech that starts this fall. Hopefully I can find a better option that doesn't have such long hours. The Orlando Tech program is from 4-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday for 18 months. (ouch... I already work 50-60 hours a week as a public school teacher).

I will keep searching and hopefully I can find a better option.

Hope everyone is doing OK out there. Happy holidays!

Hi busy lady,

Well I bit the bullet and applied to the Webster College RN program, because I didnt want to wait for CFCC. I got accepted and I start classes in January! I will be sure to report on how it is going, since this is thier FIRST RN class. They have a good rep with the LPN program, so hopefully this one will go smoothly as well. Its alot more expensive, but I will be finishing before I would be starting had I waited for CFCC.
