Hi All!!!

I've been accepted and will be starting the Practical Nursing Flex Program at Centennial College in January 2018. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been accepted into the program or if any past/current students have useful tips.

thank you for the advice Joanna. My endocrine system and nervous system test is coming up. Any advice on what i should focus mainly on? do you remember how the test was?

Starting RPN Flex (3 semesters) in January 2020. Can anyone share what the timetable/blocks are like?

Hello princess_nurse,

I am currently in the program in semester 1a and I want to say that it is quite enjoyable.

Based on my experiences it can be quite hard if you don't have enough time to study. Try your best to be on top of your reading because the teachers expect each student to come to class prepared.

For me, sometimes I don't do the reading before I go to class and it can be quite hard to understand,:) but don't worry too much because if you understand and review you will be fine.

In the school library, there are some learning circles and tutors, use them in advantages because it free and are quite helpful.

Also remember that you need to pass ANAT and PNUR because if you don't, you can't do Theory 1

In my opinion, I find PNUR a bit hard because it deals with critical thinking and I found ANAT a bit easy for some reason.

There is ANAT teacher that is really amazing and I highly recommend them. I won't give a name but here a hint: V

Just want to let you know that PNUR has a lot of reading, so make sure you have time for that.

Sorry if the grammar is bad and the long text.

I bet you will do great in this upcoming semester. ?

Hi there, sorry to interrupt but just writing to find out more details regarding flex program. How often do you have to go to school? How was the entire program? Was it really hard or manageable? In my car I am working full time and wondering if its possible to do work-school at the same time

Hi,

I am also stating the flex (3 semester) this January. I have been wondering the same thing. I have been calling the department to ask about this but I keep getting transferred around and can’t seem to find a faculty member that can answer this same question for me :/

Here is the program outline.

https://www.centennialcollege.ca/programs-courses/full-time/practical-nursing-flexible/

It's 6 semesters total for Flex. It's hard to say if its better than the full time because it depends on your life. For students with children or working full time, flex worked better for their lifestyle. However, some students who have children or worked still preferred the full-time model. It is up to you to know how many courses you can handle each semester. I worked almost full time and completed the program full time.

There are total of 6 semesters for Flex. It is manageable in the beginning of the program. I work full time and found it to be manageable during Semester 1A, 1B, 2A. For Semester 2B, this is where you start the first clinical placement. It will be 2 days per week (in my case, it was on Tue/Wed, 7hrs per day). My work was kind enough to let me attend clinical placement during the week and I can make up my hours as soon as I'm done the shift. It gets stressful and school work will pile up. So it is important to keep up with readings. In my experience, Flex works well for me because I would not be able to handle the amount of school work each semester and working almost 60hrs per week. As kim1l mentioned, it really depends on your situation and how much you think you can handle. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much ladies, so for program starting this may the will be finishing 2022 April is that right ? I have a full time job no kids and I don't want to let go of my work hours in the hospital. That means there will be no break in between ? I leave in burlington so it might all be a drive for me but I don't mind going for the flex rather than full time .

Even though the program outline shows four semester. Not sure if its stretched out or if that was for the full time nursing .

That is correct, for flex, there is no break in between the semester. The only break you will get will be the end the semester until the start of the next. Here is a the current model of route of the flex program. Let me know if you need further information and I'll be gladly to help.

Not sure why it was removed, could you resend or sent to my ig . rumeotoroh

if that's a better way to get it, looks like this website removes some content, thank you

Hi can you help me understand the semester structure for the flex program compared to their 4 semester PN program? I've read on the college's website that the two programs still finish in the exact same amount of time but I don't understand how that can be the case because from my understanding the flex program would be 8 months longer is that correct? Seems like the flex program is 24 straight months so I'm confused.

Flex runs through the Summer while the full time students gets summers off. Running through the Summer is how they’re able to finish the same time as the full time path.
