Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad 2011

Just wanted to know if anyone here got an e-mail invitation on Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad Program. I had my phone interview with them on December 29th. I received my e-mail today inviting me to the hiring event Open House for the Program on January 19th. I'm soooo nervous. It's been almost a year since I graduated and I finally got my first in-person interview! It's been so hard on all of us graduates! Let's hope for the best! :D

Count me in! This is becoming very frustrating. I am sick of waiting. Even if this is a good thing, I would greatly appreciate better communication and direction.

I'm sorry this process is taking so long, it's impossible not to be anxious. They are not finished hiring, there is hope!

My daughter was asked to join the July 11 cohort. She asked if she could be place in a later cohort.

(She attended college in SF, then flew SF to LA to interview.

She returned to Seattle-home base- & received the phone call with conditional offer (backround check, physical done at CS).

They wanted her to start immediately 7/11 but she still had college stuff at SF, gear needing to pack in Seattle, & grandparents she hadn't seen in ages, and wanting a little break between college & work (which of course she didn't mention). CS said they would check into switching her out of 7/11 (they ultimately switched her to 8/15--they didn't suggest 7/25). . People who are offered conditional employment need to provide: 5 reference (lor were previously provided), drug test, criminal backround, & go to CS for a physical. My daughter will go Wednesday for a physical. Maybe not all applicants are passing these components? With all these components -- it takes staff to pull it together. Am guessing the 4th of July had many people taking vacation before & after. Now, things should become more streamline. I'm thinking of you all & keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Is every new grad hired conditionally? why are they doing that?

Yes everyone is hired conditionally. Applicants must pass criminal back round, drug test, physical & have phone references checked out. HR is on hyper alert during this time to ensure they have healthy, credible employees. My daughter has completed all but the physical which she'll do Wednesday. Only after those components are verified might she be given a firm offer. As for response time, I have a work project I've been trying to progress on over the past two weeks and it's been impossible to advance. Everyone is on vacation. Now they're returning to a back log--so I've still heard few responses. It'll start to flow soon. But I think that's what's also happening at CS. They got the first cohort in motion, and are probably returning to backlogs and a need to finalize the next two cohorts - which are starting 7/25 & 8/15. So be ready to roll, because if selected you'll need to move quickly to get your material in, schedule your in person physical at CS, and move in before start date. BTW, CS does help by having a real estate agent show you available apartments -- so you'll be able to find your housing quickly. Take Care!

Its interesting that they offered your daughter the 8/15 start date and not 7/25. I was hired for the 7/25 start date and I begged to be put in the 8/15 cohort instead because I still have to move to LA and take the NCLEX! The lady told me that they were completely full for the last cohort and a few other people had tried to switch that she had to turn down (including a girl that was getting married like right before!) Just thought that was interesting.
