Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 2013

Published

Just thought it would be helpful to post a new thread for the upcoming new grad program starting this summer. I've seen the thread for the program last year and wanted to see if anyone was one of the first 250 who applied for it this year. I applied for cohort #1 and got a phone interview last week and the gentleman said that I'd receive an e-mail within 1-2 weeks. I've also heard of people getting rejection emails as well without a phone interview. Anyone have additional info they'd like to share? Good luck to all us new grads out there!

Mdthenurse mine took about 30min I think?

Laurbaks: I think it went ok. My 2nd interview felt better but this one wasn't bad. I was taken off guard when she asked about a time I broke the rules. I guess we will see what happens. How did you feel?

Mdthenurse: I'm not exactly sure how long mine took. I was scheduled to have my interview at 8 but it actually ENDED at that time...so maybe 15 or 20 minutes I'd guess.

SandyMickey: I have no idea. I felt as though I babbled a little too much. I wasn't asked about a time where I broke the rules. She didn't ask me the last two questions on the list. I guess only time will tell how we do but I know this wait is going to feel like forever. I'm not sure about you, but I think the application and interviews are fine but the waiting for answers is really killer! Good luck to you and hopefully we get a chance to work together!

mdthenurse, I was wondering, since you didn't go to the other interviews how long was yours? Just behavioral questions, or situational/med questions like some received from the last Open House?

I'm sure everyone did great. Congratulations on being done with the process.

mine was like 30 minutes and it went well :)

Mine was about 20 minutes and went really well. The manager I interviewed with didn't seem too into the questions on the list, and ended up spending most of the time talking about what her unit was like. I actually misheard the first question she asked me, and ended up rambling on about my interests and passions, which actually turned out to be a good thing because it lead to a conversation about our shared interests within nursing! Hopefully we will all find out soon that we've been hired!

ott15 mine lasted about 45 minutes and the manager just asked me "costumer service" questions. ie- tell me about a time when you went above and beyond a patient's expectations, or a time when you had a problem with a patient... I felt like it went really well but what expecting some critical thinking problems about patients but never got any which seems a little discouraging :-/ But the lady was super sweet and seemed so excited about her floor even after the 28 years she has been with CS. Pretty amazing!

How long till we find out?

For those that received 2nd interviews this time around, what degree/GPA did you have, if you don't mind me asking :)

I'm planning to apply to the second cohort tomorrow!

Thanks!

Question for the 1st cohort- what it required for the initial online application? It sounds like you all submitted letters of rec, cover letter, essay, etc. during the interview process....so is the online app just a generic fill in your information and resume type thing?

Just wondering so I can get everything together today before I submit tomorrow! Thanks :)

Mdthenurse: hopefully we find out by the end if this week!

Jaspersun: I'm a BSN with a 3.52 gpa

Gastro2012: from what I remember, it was just a basic information app

To those of you who have applied and received an interview... CONGRATULATIONS!!! Also for those of you who have been interviewed.... I was wondering what school did you all graduate from, what degree did you get, and what was your GPA? Thanks in advance!!

Anyone know what time the application will open??

CSUEBRNstudent!: I graduated from West Coast University with a BSN (GPA: 3.52).

Star2011: I'm not sure. I actually applied to the application at 8am a few days later than it said it was posted.

Good luck to everyone who is going to apply today :snurse:.

If it helps, the first posting was titled, "Registered Nurse I - New Grad Residency Program, Nursing Institute." Hopefully this will narrow down the search results!
