Cedars-Sinai New Grad Program Mar 2014

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for the people in the Cedars Sinai New Grad program starting Mar 3! Maybe we can figure out good places to live, how to prepare, etc!

For those of you who received offers, what floor will you be working?

I received an offer this morning too!! So excited! Congrats to everyone who has received one! They didn't specify a floor, I think we will find out closer to the start date.

Specializes in interested in specializing in Peds or OR.

Congrats to everyone who got offers. Just got my rejection email. *sigh*

Don't give up angelxeternity! This was my 2nd time applying since I didn't get it the first time. Maybe they liked my persistance and it helped to know what to expect the 2nd time around! Something will come up when u least expect it. Best of luck!

Congrats to those who received offers! Let's definitely keep each other updated.

I received an offer this morning too! Couldn't be more elated. I'm so sorry for those who didn't make it; they really dragged out the whole process.

I am so happy for you guys :) unfortunately I just got my rejection email. I wish I knew what I did wrong :/ good luck to everyone who hasn't heard yet

got rejection email? so sad :(

they seemed so happy with me during third interview. wonder why they didnt select me

Same. I left my third interview feeling great! I too got a rejection email, very disappointed :(

what is the process of reapplying for the next term? has the App opened up? they actually called me and invited me to the second interview (skipping the first video interview). very frustrating.

I just want to give encouragement to everyone who did not make it. I graduated a year ago, May of 2013, and it has been a very long road applying to hundreds of positions since then and finally landing this offer almost a year to the day since I graduated. I will say every interview experience helped me to be better prepared for the next one, so just keep putting one foot in front of the other and gear up for the next one. It is such a hard market for new grads right now in CA, I think even more so than many other places.

Something that really helped me was reviewing my med-surg notes and clinical stories from nursing school but also really focusing on what makes me unique as a candidate. Work whatever your passion or experience leads you to share in your interviews and make it compelling. Something will work out if you keep at it! Surround yourself with positive cheerleaders and do whatever you need to do to keep improving your interview skills until you succeed.

For those of you who didn't get in I suggest you volunteer. I volunteered at Cedars prior to getting into nursing school. I graduated Dec 2013 and started volunteering again when I moved back. I think that helped me a ton! I was offered a position at Cedars and I have two interviews at UCLA tomorrow. Do whatever you can to make yourself stand out.

Good luck!

I called HR today to see how we go about reapplying and she told me "we don't recommend you apply again." I was so discouraged at that moment. I thought if we made it to the third interview (like you other guys, I thought it went well) wouldn't that mean they were closely considering hiring us? I said, "So are you saying that if they didn't like us now, they never will?" and she said, "well, it's the same people." I'm sure a lot of people were calling and harassing her today but I just wasn't expecting to hear that. Did anyone else who received a rejection email call HR?
